Navbar Drop Down Items Not Showing In Ie9

Recommended Posts

meyson

I have problems with the nav bar drop down items using Pagelines Framework and Child Theme Transparency used for www.jansenius.nl only in IE9. In IE9 only the social network profile icons in the header show up much bigger and not showing in the right corner as well.

Your support team already suggested to deactivate the child theme Transparency, which I did. Unfortunately the problem persists. Can you help me out?

Hi,

So when you disable the Transparency the issue persists ?

Also, I have just reviewed your site in BrowserStack and the drop down menu works for IE9. Therefore, can you install a free application called Jing and record the issue, then share the link to the screencast please.

Thanks for your response. Yep, when I disable the theme Transparency it persists. And I do test in BrowserStack myself. My client told me it wasn't working in IE9 and I have the same when I'm testing in IE9 in BrowserStack: no drop downs at all. And using a Windows 7 computer with IE9 installed gives the same result: nod drop downs in the menu. Strange you can't reproduce that in Browserstack.

OK, I was actually looking at the wrong site so viewing that site you have in your images, i get the same problem in browser stack.

So I recommend you disable all non-PageLines plugins, then see if this resolves your issue. If not remove all your custom code, CSS, hooks etc.. and see if this resolves your issue.

There are no exotic plugins: askimet, codestyling localization, countdown timer, custom wp login widget, google analytics, gravity forms, nextgen, pagelines sections, wp admin microblog. No custom code, CSS adjustments, hooks, etc. .... Some more ideas?

Is compatibility mode on in IE9? This has been known to cause issues with the layout.

If you go back to the standard Pagelines theme are the default icons staying in place? I think this might be something to do with IE not being able to resize the icon, original they're 56px by 56px in the Transparency theme.

There have been people stating they're experiencing issues with the NextGen gallery plugin since upgrading Wordpress. Did you try disabling the plugin? did it have any affect?

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.

Thanks for your help. To go back to the standard theme I'v rebuild the site on http://janseniusreunie.elegeert.nl and it works well ! I've adjusted my first install on http://jansenius.elegeert.nl and it's also working fine now! So far so good. But I use a domain forward www.jansenius.nl to show the website htttp://jansenius.elegeert.nl and browserstack.com shows me a bad website if I test www.jansenius.nl and a good one if I test the actual website htttp://jansenius.elegeert.nl ..... so, now I'm a little confused. Any suggestions what happens here?

Try going to Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and without changing any settings, simply Save.  This updates the permalinks which may be broken as a result of the redirect you describe. Its possible that IE is unable to detect the redirect that other browsers can find.  That could be causing the child menu to be 'invisible' to IE, which is a very sensitive browser.

Since Transparency is supported directly by its developer, I'd recommend posting this issue in the Comments section at this address: http://www.pagelines.com/store/themes/transparency/

There, the developer can address it directly. He's a good fellow and I'm sure will come up with a solution for you.

Yeah I just tested with IE9 and IE8 and I can see the dropdown menus as expected as well.

Thanks! Saving the permalinks isn't my solution, but we're nearby. I'll try to alter the redirect, change the header or ask Adam for some tips.
