Sharebar Enhancements

Recommended Posts

I miss the opportunity to add linkedin to the sharebar. And maybe in the future some more... (Of course I can use a plugin for that but that raised the loadtime.

Also I did not like the iframe construction; that is not very good for accessibilty reasons.

Anyway I am very satisfied with the new framework!

      I was wondering how to edit the default meta share data that's in pagelines.
      It seems like it's overriding my open graph data when I want to share.
      I'm referring to:
      <meta property='pl-share-title' content='' />
      <meta property='pl-share-url' content='' />
      <meta property='pl-share-desc' content='' />
      <meta property='pl-share-img' content='' />
      I can't figure out how to edit them. Please help.

      I have made an amendment to the columnizer section within the DMS files as I could not get it to do what I wanted.
      The file I have amended is:   /wp-content/themes/dms/sections/columnizer/section.php
      Reason For Amendment:
      I want to add a Linkedin icon and URL link in the same area that the Twitter and Facebook links appear.
      (this is when using the default provided columnizer section)
      I needed to add this myself as the DMS settings only contain input boxes for Twitter and Facebook, not Linkedin.
      My Question:
      Having made the simple addition of 1 line of code to the above file, I fear that such an amendment will be replaced the next time I update my DMS theme.  Is this the case and, if so, can I put my version of section.php in another folder perhaps so that mine always overrides the default?
      A Better Way:
      I realise that you can specify a widget and use that with columnizer instead of the default.  However, when doing so I loose all of the styling which comes with the default one and the icons which go alongside.
      I'm sure that most of you DMS pros will be thinking I've made a hash of this and that their is probably a much easier way!
      Thank you for taking the time to read my query and I do hope this also proves useful for other new users.
      Additional Thought:
      The current rendition of the pagelines.com site has a really nice black social bar / menu bar at the bottom.  They have obviously made a section to use for themselves.  Any chance this can be added to DMS for the rest of us or perhaps a simple section that somebody can make available?

      My website is in ssl and I use the provided code on the forum to force pagelines in ssl:
      //force pagelines ssl add_action( 'pl_force_ssl', '__return_true' ); add_filter( 'pless_vars', 'make_ssl_vars' ); function make_ssl_vars( $vars ) { $vars['plSectionsRoot'] = str_replace( 'http://', 'https://', $vars['plSectionsRoot'] ); $vars['plRoot'] = str_replace( 'http://', 'https://', $vars['plRoot'] ); return $vars; }
      I the Chrome console I get this message: [blocked] The page at https://www.pepperbase.com/2013/ict-media/mobile-care ran insecure content from http://platform.linkedin.com/in.js. I am not sure how the pl_force_ssl action works, should it filter this http link to https?

      In the Sharebar section I can see the link to the Linkedin JS file is http, maybe this could be changed to a protocal relative link (http://blog.httpwatch.com/2010/02/10/using-protocol-relative-urls-to-switch-between-http-and-https/)?
      I already changed it in the core files, so you will not see the error anymore.
