Clips In Magazine Mode: Thumbnails And Grid Layout

Recommended Posts

My site is at http://ningboguide.com

I am trying to configure the clips in magazine mode to do the following (this post may need to go in CSS?):

1) Set width and height when thumb is selected above the title/excerpt as in Site Options.

The problem is that it seems to be dragging in the entire photo. I would like it to cut it for me or if I have to set the thumbnail size somewhere in Wordpress I can do that, but I'm not seeing any changes when I configure the width and height of the Wordpress thumbnail settings.

At the end of it all, I would like the photos above the clips in magazine mode to all be the same size, not really sure how to achieve that?

2) I like that the clips are relative to each other but I would like to also experiment with a way to make the clips a set size that would more accurately portray a grid effect. I just want to set a standard size for the box and the thumbnail photo. If there is any text that doesn't fit in the box I would like it to be cut off with an ellipses.

If anyone has any suggestions how to achieve this, that would be great!

1) The thumbnail sizes in blog posts aren't configured using the WordPress Media settings. You'll need to adjust those sizes with Custom CSS: http://www.pagelines.com/wiki/Custom_CSS

2) To resize boxes you'll also need to use CSS (see link above) and in order for text to be cut off, you need to adjust the maximum number of words in the excerpt (in PageLines > Site Options > Blog And Posts). The post text cannot be cut off according to box size. It can only be cut off according to how many words are in it.

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I've read that article but I'm unsure about the css to use to fix the clip thumbnails. Also, when I've tried to do this before, it often squeezes the set thumbnails under wordpress media into the box, I'm looking for them to just be cropped.

Anyone with a tip on where to get started on css is greatly appreciated! Thanks again!

Hi there, this is a good site if you're looking to start with css http://www.w3schools.com/css/

Also make sure you get firebug, www.getfirebug.com, will definitely help you find the ID/classes you want to edit, plus you can make the changes live in firebug and then copy/paste the amended code back into the framework in pagelines>site options>custom code.

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.

      Good Evening,
This is a desperate call for help regarding thumbnail cropping. I have scoured the forum and the net for a solution to this problem, have installed and ran numerous plugins such as Regenerate Thumbnails, Jetpack image optimization, re-uploaded all images, clear caches etc.
Ive changed options it in global loop settings, changed and tested every imaginable setting in Media Settings regarding thumbnail sizes and cropping and more.
Whatever I do, I cannot get the thumbnails to display un-cropped.
Here is the link to one of my pages that it occurs on.
Please help! Ive sunk way too much time into this with zero success :-(
      Currently running DMS Version: 2.2.4.

First of all, sorry for my bad English.  I am developing an ecommeece with wp, woocommerce, PL5 and quickshop, and I need to do some changes in the simple product grid. I want to change the classes of some divs, but I can't find the templates.
Also, I change the grid of the category products pages, but I didn't make it correctly.
This is the cat archive's: http://globosdemar.com/wp/categoria-producto/camisetas-para-ninos-y-ninas/
      Can you help me?

I noticed that PL5 uses flexbox for it's responsive grid. I think this is awesome.
But now there's a project coming in where I know I'll have to support older crappier browsers as well. Any thoughts on this? Should I only use PL5 for project where we're focused on modern browsers? Or should I use custom CSS to insert a float-based fallback grid..?

Sorry, I got lost in trying to explain my problem properly. I deleted the contents of this post but can't delete the post itself. I'll report back if I've gotten to the bottom.

the grid function is gone within post!
all workarounds within PL5 are not possible!!!
cloning of containers from outsinde > to inside a post/page content do not work container-work within post/page content does not work (same as used outside) DMS bootstrap grid has gone
