TourKick (Clifford P) 1 Report post Posted October 21, 2012 can I have a custom section include one or more other sections? for example: customsection1 navbar ( custommenu1 ) pullquote ( this is the best quote ever ) customsection2 navbar ( custommenu2 ) pullquote ( no, this is the best quote ever ) navbar ( custommenu3 ) etc., whether on the same page (i.e. adjacent drag-and-drop) or not 1) can this be done? 2) if yes, could you please provide a working example how to insert content into each section (like specifying I want a navbar section with 'custommenu1' as the menu for that navbar)? Thank you very much.
TourKick (Clifford P) 1 Report post Posted October 21, 2012 Related but different idea: Can I have 3 "control/condition" sections that are 1) if 2) else 3) endif and then have sections between all 3? Obviously, if I drag-and-drop fewer than all 3, the page should break. Example of a drag-and-drop setup (indentation for illustration purposes only -- no indentation would be within the drag-and-drop, they'd just be in the following order): section_if section_banners section_boxes section_else section_banners_clone section_boxes_clone section_masthead section_endif Thank you. Rob 547 Report post Posted October 21, 2012 I'm unsure if you can do any of these things, as this isn't a developer forum. However, I suspect that to accomplish some conditional circumstance for your site, you're going to need a professional developer who's extremely familiar with both PageLines and WordPress (not to mention PHP). This would require coding modification of core files in your system (WP, PL and PHP) and is not something supported in this forum. Please contact one or more of our Pros for a quote. http://www.pagelines.com/pros Former PageLines Moderator, Food Expert and Raconteur
TourKick (Clifford P) 1 Report post Posted October 21, 2012 I agree it's a non-standard thing, but I think it's a neat idea and maybe someone like Simon could weigh in. Other than Simon, are there any other developers who reply to forum posts? Thank you.
Rob 547 Report post Posted October 21, 2012 It sounds like a very good idea. Unfortunately, no. Simon pops in from time to time, but he's not a moderator by any measure. If he replies, it's purely by chance. Also, he's our principal developer and isn't available for customizations. This is one of the several reasons why I recommend using a Pro developer (along with preventing the crashing of your site). TourKick (Clifford P) 1 Report post Posted October 21, 2012 As you can tell, I've been doing some trial and error. I am working on a local development so site crash isn't a huge concern. However, I would appreciate if any dev could chime in here, even if just on a theoretical level. Thank you.
Jenny 33 Report post Posted October 30, 2012 As far as I know, you cannot put a section inside a section. If you're talking about sidebars, maybe something like Widget Logic from the Wordpress plugins may help. ♥ Jenny :: Web designer at Simple Mama (follow me at @simplemamacom) Check out Share Me, a social sharing add-on for DMS that is super simple to set up.
