Post Pins Sort Order Is Unexpected

Recommended Posts

tjrutkowski

I've installed Post Pins and set it to show a single category however I cannot control the sort order that posts appear. I modified the publish dates to try to control the sort order, but that didn't change anything. I also used the Post Re-order plug-in, without any impact.

How are posts ordered?

Here's my page: http://bookinwithsunny.com/book-club/bookclub/

Thanks,

TJ

They should be by date order, descending. But I'm curious... Do you have a cache plugin activated? If so, did you clear the cache after making changes? If not, did you clear the browser cache before trying to view the order?

Thanks for the reply. Clearing the caches did not change my view, but I think I figured out my issue. I discovered that the order is defined by the vertical axis, and I was assuming posts would sort by row (which is my preference).

So there is no problem with the sort order...it's just not what I was looking for.

Doesn't Post Pins have a sort order in the PageLines Meta Settings > Post Pins on the page? If you did not set that, try Desc.

Post Pins offers width settings, but nothing for sort order or height.

Hi,

I just tested it and yes, the order is date descending. The bottom-most post is the earliest, with the top left-most being the most recent. I'm not sure which date (there are several in the database) that Post Pins uses to determine the order. It could well be a combination of date and Post ID.

At least you know that the order isn't random.

      Hello Everyone,

I am currently attempting to setup the blog site and have the following issue:

      Website URL: http://blog.nquav.com.au
      Framework Version: 2.1.5
      Wordpress Version: 3.9.2
      Server/Host: Dreamhost
      Section: Post Pins
Details: I have each of the menus setup as a link to a category, ideally I would like each page to show the Post Pins with only that categories posts on each page. I have configured the pages handling to "LOCAL" and created a template for each category (so each link in the menu opens a new page that has had a template named after the category, and each page has been set to "LOCAL" page handling).

I have set the "Pins Category/Posts Mode" to be the same as the page title (there are 4 categories). But I cannot get post pins to be set to a different Category on each page (every time I go to check on the other page, it is set to the same category in the Post Pins Section). If anyone knows how to make each category page display only the category it is meant to in the Post Pins Section, that would be awesome!

What controls the order that posts appear within the Post Pins section?

I'm using the post types order plugin which seems to be working for the majority of posts but the odd post seems to be out of order.

I have deactivated all plugins except the post pins and the post types order plugin and the issue still occurs. I have also created a new post and deleted the old one that appears in the wrong order and the issue is still there.  I've changed the date of the post and it's still out of order.

I can privately give you the url for the site if needed. I'm using WP 3.6 and DMS 1.1.4 and a child theme based on the one provided by Nick Haskins.

      Many thanks in advance!

      Hi there,

Is it possible to restrict Post Pins to a custom post type? You can select a category but it would also be really useful to restrict it to a custom post type.

      Many thanks in advance!

      Howdy,

      1. I have parts of a blog here:  www.clearheartcoaching.com/blog

and the old blog videos here:  clearheartcoaching.wordpress.com

I'd like to have everything here:  peggygreen.net/blog

but I dont want it to look like crap.  Is there an easy way to move all these things over while maintaining the look?  Or wd it be easier to just upload everything from scratch?

      2.  I have post pins on my old platform pro site:  www.clearheartcoaching.com/blog
I'd like to keep them in DMS.  How can I do that?
