Drag and Drop per page without using templates?

Recommended Posts

timelf123

I love the drag and drop feature of pagelines and intend to make Pagelines the only framework that we develop sites with. One feature that I miss from other frameworks is the ability to customize sections on a per page basis without the need for a custom template. In the meta settings of the post/page, we would be able to drag and drop pagelines sections directly, without needing to create a new template.

Is this slated for any future release?

Hi there, this subject has come up before and the core team are working hard on future editions and updates to the Framework.

At the current time we've not heard anything in regards to incorporating this into future releases. As soon as we do have information on new features/updates/editions we'll release it via email and through the Pagelines blog. So we'll keep you informed :-)

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

Methinks this would require a refactoring of the whole system, which would be a pretty arduous undertaking.

I hope Pagelines doesn't mind me making a suggestion for a non-competing product on their forums, but there are "composition" solutions available for Wordpress, such as this: http://codecanyon.net/item/visual-composer-for-wordpress/242431?sso

Now, I've never used this particular standalone system, but I've seen it integrated into a number of themes. A combination of Pagelines and this plugin should give you almost complete flexibility in the design of each page and the display of content.

I second the desire for per-page design capabilities, for no other reason than the fact that it is more intuitive. I think a lot of the Pagelines learning curve has to do with the abstraction of the design to "templates." It convolutes the whole process.

Hi,

I have used that plugin before but not recently so Im not sure of any new features, but with the introduction of the PageLines Grid and Shortcodes you can pretty much do everything that plugin can do.

As for the suggestion regarding Drag and Drop on the Page/Post editor. At first thought, it sounds like a great idea however, in my opinion implementing this kind of system would make the Framework become overly populated with options and only confuse users.

I think the system we have now is more ideal, creating a custom template for your pages is quite fast. We would prefer to give you the ability to create custom page templates via an option but with a Wordpress quirk, at the moment its possible.
