Pagination and boxes in category pages

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm trying to add pagination to a category page. The only content on the page will be different boxes from the same box set. I would like to show only 15 boxes per paginated page and show the next 15 on the next paginated page and so on.

Is there a way to this?

As for now the pagination works but I always see only the first 15 boxes over and over again on every paginated page.

Hi there, I'm not 100% sure on what you mean. Do you have posts on this page as well as boxes? Pagination as far as I'm aware doesn't work on boxes sets only posts. If you're looking to achieve that type of effect have you tried using the post pins section?

Because this uses posts to populate the post pins you'll be able to use the pagination http://www.pagelines.com/store/sections/pagelines-postpins/

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.

Hmm, I may be using the wrong technique...

What I am trying to create is basically a photo gallery with multiple pages, 15 boxes ( thumbs) per page. Every picture is a different post.

Basically I would like my posts to appear as thumbs on my category page, something like here http://sousstyle.com/recipes/breakfast-brunch/ but without the text underneath.

Would that be possible with postpins or can you suggest something else? Thank you!

PostPins is designed to display posts rather than set up a photo gallery with multiple pages. If you're leaning toward a photo gallery, you may want to try using a gallery plugin instead (one that allows you view full images in new pages). You can search for plugins here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/

Thank you for responding Catrina!

I would like to achieve this same look only without the text underneath http://sousstyle.com/recipes/breakfast-brunch/ for each page.

I prefer that every picture is an individual post because I'd like to use the comment and share option.

I have looked for gallery plugins but I have not found anything like it... maybe I should look more.

Do PostPins have the option to show only the picture itself without the grey frame and the text underneath? Thank you again!

Basically the Pagination only works for posts and pages. If you wish to create a photo gallery you will need to use a plugin that offers this kind of functionality. Therefore, as Catrina suggested above, you will need to browser the Wordpress plugin repository.

I would recommend you take a look at Nextgen Gallery - http://wordpress.org...extgen-gallery/

PostPins has been designed to display Posts using the Feature Image and excerpt and not designed for images only.

Please search our forums, before posting!

I've added the Post/Page pagination section to the bottom of the blog category page on the dev site here (see screenshot): http://dianef.sandboxes.online/category/intention-and-invention-blog/ but it is giving me the message "Post/Page Pagination is hidden or returned no output", and when viewing the page in another browser, I see nothing.
Does anyone have an idea why this might be?
Your help is much appreciated in advance.
      Thank you,

We are working on a 2 languages site (https://liguecardioliga.be) with wpml, and lately the call of a category in the loops section (and all the sections requiring a category to select posts) doesn't work in the translated language. It worked well until recently so I wonder if it's because of a recent update (wordpress, wpml, pagelines, a plugin?). Anyone has the same problem? a solution?

The images are forced into a boxed frame so that you can't see the whole picture. Doesn't look so good. Is this a bug? A feature? How can I fix it?

The recent WP update seems to be quite cheeky...messing about with a number of things.
Having trouble with boxes displaying differently in different browsers.  1st screen shot is Chrom...looks ok.
2nd screenshot is Firefox...colors are different. Icons are different. Have weird 1000's next to the icons. Any idea what's going on?

Hi, I wonder how I can edit the function pl_pagination in  function.php located plugins > pl-platform > engine > lib without editing the core-file, that will be overwritten from time to time.
When I place the same code in my function.php located in my child theme, it just gets error.
What the practice here, to edit that function, I want to replace for ex. "Next Entries" and the arrow to something else.
This is what the original code looks like:
      /** * * Pagination Function * * @package PageLines Platform 5 * @subpackage Functions Library * @since 5 * * Single posts need to use next_post_link() * Archives can use next_posts_link() * */ function pl_pagination() { if ( function_exists( 'wp_pagenavi' ) ) : wp_pagenavi(); else : ?> <ul class="pl-pager page-nav-default fix"> <?php if( is_single() && ! is_page() ) { printf( '<li class="previous previous-entries">%s</li>', get_previous_post_link( '%link' ) ); printf( '<li class="next next-entries">%s</li>', get_next_post_link( '%link' ) ); } else { printf( '<li class="previous previous-entries">%s</li>', get_previous_posts_link( __( '&larr; Föregående','pl-platform' ) ) ); printf( '<li class="next next-entries">%s</li>', get_next_posts_link( __( 'Nästa &rarr;','pl-platform' ) ) ); } ?> </ul> <?php endif; } // As a callback with nav args associated function pl_menu_callback( $args ) { pl_menu_fallback( $args['menu_class'] ); } function pl_menu_fallback( $class = '', $limit = 5 ) { $pages_out = pl_page_list( $limit ); printf( '<ul class="%s">%s</ul>', $class, $pages_out ); } function get_pl_nav_default( $args ) { $limit = ( isset( $args['limit'] ) ) ? $args['limit'] : 6; $pages_out = pl_page_list( $limit ); return sprintf( '<ul class="%s">%s</ul>', $args['menu_class'], $pages_out ); }
