Background Image

Recommended Posts

I don't have a background image on my home page and I don't want one, but it appears to be looking for one and gives me a small black box in the center of the home page.

Please help.

Thanks,

Ginny

Ginny,

Please go to PageLines > Site Options > Color Control > Supersize The Background Image and uncheck the box then save.

Well that worked, but I need the bg image on all the other pages supersized. The home page is the only page I do not want a background image.

I've done that and the little black box is back on the home page. There is no background image chosen for the home page or the home page template.

Hi there, you can use the following css to hide the item on a per page basis. Paste the code into Pagelines>Site Options>Customer code. You'll need to change the page id to the id of your homepage.

.page-id-2 #supersized-loader {

    display: none;

}

Thanks but I tried inserting the CSS and it did not work. Its strange because I do not have a background image for that page - it just started showing this box a few days ago. Any other ideas?

I added a background image because I got sick of trying to fix it. I don't really want it there but there does not seem to be that option if I want to have it on the other pages.

It's possible to add code that will make the background plain white for just that homepage. Do you want the CSS?

Please try this code:

body.home {background-color: #fff; background-image: none !important;}

I have the same issue on some of my pages. I want the big image on some pages, and on some no bg image. Is there a better solution? This seems to be a bug that should be fixed...

If you want a 'selective' background image, then add the image to the background of the pages where you want it instead of adding a global background then trying to hide it for other pages.

I'm also getting the black, cushion shaped box during page load. I have an image loaded which is applied to all pages, it is fixed and with supersize on i get the black box. With supersize off it goes away but my image isn't supersized, of course, which is a problem for larger res screens!

url is http://stfeliudeguixols.com and also on http://alwaysdifferent.net

Any help appreciated!

Thanks :)

Adam

Hi,

Like Simon suggested above, if you wish to have a background image but not one on your homepage, do not use the global option for Background image, instead use the PageLines Meta Settings > Page Setup on your page editor.

This way you can add an individual background image to specific pages.

Hi Danny,

I want the image on all pages (global) but I don't want the black box to appear. from what I've read it shouldn't appear as long as there is an image available - which in my case there is! So any clue as to why I'm still getting the black box?

Thanks.

If you want to hide the loader box use the following code.

#supersized-loader {display:none !important;}

      Hi I can't seem to get the background image for the Tour Guide section to be clear. It is always blurry. Any idea why that is? I am using a high res image. Is it a sizing issue? Thanks

      Hello,
      sorry. i got a problem on my site i can not fix myself, would be nice somebody can help.
      I use:
      - Platform 5 (latest) Pro
      - Pagelines Framework (latest for Platform 5)
      - keycdn (cdn enabler, cache enabler und optimus WebP)
      - my site:  example
      Problem:
      The background image i use in the Impulse Section is not beeing replaced automatically if i specify a CDN Url. I need to put in the cdn url to the image manually. Why?
      If you look in the button of the the side you see post grid section, where i have no problems. You also see there WebP Images working.
      Now i can not really use the direct cdn url for the impulse background image, cause i want to benefit there from WebP Image also in the background as it works in post grid section.
      How does it works with Impulse? The webP image for the background is ready to use.
      Thank you.

      Hi,
      I am using the Canvas Area section at the top of my site. I have a video playing in the background, which works really well on desktop. But on mobile video doesn't play without user interaction, so I have a static image in place as an alternate image. However when viewed on a mobile device there is now a play button over the static image that does nothing. This didn't use to happen so I imaging it is due to an upgrade. But this is really bad UX. Is there a way to remove it?

      Thanks in advance.

      Hi
      Have a couple clients who are having background image issues. This should be a basic question so hope fix is easy. How do you get a specified image to auto resize so it fills the browser screen? Client has portrait-format image that's 1000x1000 and the left and right are displaying the background color (white) on my 1440 wide Macbook pro, as it is on client's computer. She has tried clicking "Fit image to page" and repeat background - neither is getting what she expects.  I suggested trying a landscape-format image.
      But the larger question is this - how does one plan a proper background image that will fill the whole screen - left to right - in the browser image and have it scale appropriately?  Should one always have landscape background images? What about scrolling vs not scrolling BG? How plan your BG image so it will fill the screen on laptops, ipads, iphones...  both in landscape and portrait format? Is it true that you can't do it? that either the left-right or top-bottom are cut off depending on the device and orientation?
      2 sites where this needs resolution:

      Mobile layout much better in 5.0.3. There appears to be an issue that it 'super-sizes' the background image?
