How to change home page title

Recommended Posts

jannon

I've changed the name of my site from Whidbey Art Source to Whidbey LIfe Magazine and all of the URLs have been changed and all of the pages now have Whidbey Life Magazine as the first part of their title when viewed on the tab in my browser. The only page that still says Whidbey Art Source in the browser tab is the home page. I've changed the title in the admin > settings > general but still the old title remains. I've looked at the header.php but I don't see a title tag. Can you tell me where I need to change this in order for the correct name to appear in browser tabs?

Here is the link to the home page with the incorrect title: http://www.whidbeylifemagazine.org

If you click to another page on the site you'll see the correct title, like this one: http://www.whidbeylifemagazine.org/about/

thanks

Is your home page a static page or a blog page? If it's a static page you created named Whidbey Art Source then it would show that name at the top. You can see whether it's a static page by going to Settings > Reading > Front Page Displays.

You would need to turn off Page Titles in Pagelines > Site Options or use display:none; in CSS to hide that title.

You are using a 3rd party SEO plugin, all page titles are controlled by that.

      WordPress 4.2.2
      DMS2 Version: 2.1.9.3
      Skeleton theme

      Site URL - http://newsite.ocdla.com

1.) I'm working with the Page Title Section and it looks like it might do what I want it to do, but if so I can't figure out which settings to use.

2.) I have the Page Title section set up on the 'default page template', which i'm using for most pages on this site, as they all have the same layout.

3.) I need every page to have a different title (obviously, hence why I'm using the section) but I want them to be different from what the page title is in the actual WP page doc. I see that there is there is an override in the DMS editor for this section, however when I change it, it changes all pages globally. Is there a way to do this so every page can have it's own separate overridable title?

4.) Currently it appears how I want it to because I have done a workaround by naming the WP pages (from within the WP dash) what I need them to say. The beauty of this workaround was that the client would not have to open the DMS editor to make changes to these titles and could edit them right from the WP dash, however I have discovered that it will mess with the site search function as well as not being ideas for SEO.

5.) I'm open to using a different section to achieve this effect so If you have another solve or a different section that might work better, please let me know.

      Thanks in advance!

      Hi Enrique

I just bought Voyant and love it!

One thing is I am looking to remove the Page Header from a few of the pages in my site. I see the option that says "Hide on specific pages or posts? (IDs Comma Separated)" and I've successfully hidden this section. However there is still a white band at the top where it used to be.

For instance on the url here: http://acceleratorfilms.co/services/ you can see the white space at the top.

How can I remove this from the pages where I am hiding the page title?

Thank you very much for the help man!

      Hi

The WP Content/Loop doesn't include the ability to have a post / page title without legacy mode. Given that legacy mode is apparently not supported in future releases and therefore to be avoided for sites that you want to last this seems extremely odd. Right now I'm having to use a hack of Wordpress title as short code in the Standard Title field or an additional php in PLNextBox.

Please advise of workaround or put this obviously necessary feature back into the non-leagcy element.

      Please can anyone help me?
I'm just getting to grips with creating my first site on PageLines DMS, but I can't seem to find anywhere, where I can rename my pages correctly. They all have names like "My CMS|About Us", "My CMS|Prices" etc. instead of "About Us", "Prices" etc.

I'm obviously doing something wrong somewhere, but have been going round in circles all day trying to find out what.

Can anyone out there guide me correctly?

      Many Thanks
      Kev

      Hello,

I'm trying to remove the title on one page of the site and the CSS I'm entering is not doing so.  Any ideas?
