Eileen Starbuck 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2012 I know this is probably not a PageLines thing...but just wondering if someone can help answer this... Whenever I post something new...I usually get a 'pingback' in my comments. I'm using Disqus, but the pingback shows up in my WordPress comments. Is that unusual? Should I be approving these pingbacks or deleting them? Thanks, Eileen "...learning, growing and sharing online!" http://www.everythingeileen.com
catrina 103 Report post Posted September 25, 2012 Pingbacks are a way of letting you know whenever another blogger or someone else mentions your blog content elsewhere on the web. It's nothing to be worried about (but you can choose to approve or delete them - it doesn't matter which you choose). Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to. Designer | Catrina Dulay Founder | Catrina and Mouse
Eileen Starbuck 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2012 Thanks Catrina... I was worried I had something setup wrong because they weren't showing in Disqus. Is there a way of knowing where the pingback is from...like what website/blogger?!? mackenzie 12 Report post Posted September 25, 2012 Within the comments of Wordpress it should tell you. For example the link below shows you a pingback on my site in a post that I referenced another post...so an internal pingback. Where the circle is would be the which site is using your link along with a direct link to their post using your link. http://screencast.com/t/UOSGg3d7 Mackenzie - PageLines Help Desk The Centsible Family - Writer, Photographer and Coffee Addict --------------------------------------------------- Kindly search this forum and read the documentation before posting. Rob 547 Report post Posted September 26, 2012 Since they happen when you post, it's likely your own pingback. As you can see here, this is a long-standing problem: http://wordpress.org...-published-post Try the solution here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/simple-question-how-do-i-prevent-pingbacks-from-myself Former PageLines Moderator, Food Expert and Raconteur
