Adding meta information with "Continue Reading"

Recommended Posts

I'm attempting to show categories and the add comments link directly under the continue reading link in post excerpts. I currently added shortcodes to the continue reading box which works, but I'm finding a pain to try and stylize. I'm sure there is a better solution, I'm just not sure what it is! Any ideas?

No, I understand the styling and can style the .more-link just fine. It's when I add the shortcodes, the first shortcode span is included in the <a> tag with the continued reading whereas the second shortcode is not (and is the one that I can stylize). Is it possible to create a new div for the meta data?

There isn't a way to control the way a shortcode is rendered, so it can't be stylized (the way HTML can be). If you want to create a new DIV, the shortcode will need to be placed inside that DIV (but it won't affect the code that's already being generated by shortcode).

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.
