How to make banner link back to home page

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just created an alternate header for some of my pages using a Banner??“??“my site URL given above gives an example of a page with my alternate header. I added the link to the banner in the content window and updated the page but the link isn't working. The Banner Metasettings doesn't offer a link option so I'm not sure how to do this properly. I also use Boxer Pro and know I can make a linkable content block to put in my header but I don't know how to put a content block into my header yet. Is there a simple way to add a link to a Banner from within the Pagelines framework?

I've not used the Banner section personally, but as I understand it, the Banner isn't suitable for or capable of having a link. Instead of using Content Blocks via WP Boxer, have you tried one of the following options: 1. Add the Content Box available for the Header in PageLines > Drag & Drop > Header > Available Sections then create content to add specifically there? 2. Add a Universal Sidebar and add any custom content via text widget through Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets? 3. Use the Branding section with an uploaded image and identify the CSS to assign an alignment? This automatically links back to the homepage of the site no matter what page or post it appears upon.

Thanks so much for the ideas. I did think of using??“??“ 1. Content Box first, but I'm a newbie and probably am not using it properly. First, I put shortcode for my image into the Content Box but it didn't render my image on my page. Instead, the code was rendered literally, as text, in my header. Much more to learn here... 2. I didn't try the Universal Sidebar, my banner image is actually compiled in Photoshop so the text isn't generated within PagelLnes. Basically, I have an image which I'd like to make linkable. And from within Banners is the only way I found which would render the image at the right size and placement, but no link can be generated. Humph... 3. I'm already using Branding for my standard header image but I'm looking for a way to put alternate headers on varying pages. I can almost have this, save for the ability to define the size of the image and associate a link with it. Looks like it's time for me to learn more about my Boxer Pro plug-in which is supposed to allow me to put Content Blocks anywhere on my pages. Aaaand...time to learn how to create in CSS. I wonder if there's a good quick way to learn to be more fluent using CSS? Thanks again. Still inspired...

Here's the deal for customizing the header with linkable and editable imagery, many thanks to Rob who made suggestions/gave me clues to figure this one out. Here goes: To customize the header with something different from the branding setting on various pages within a site, i.e. applying different variations on a branding theme to varying pages. The key element is the Universal Sidebar. It can be applied to the header, it's not just a sidebar modifier, within PageLines Drag and Drop. Once that's done, any widget can be used up there in the header. This is far easier than using hooks to code modifications to the header, it's just a simple plug'n'play widget receptacle.

The killer widget for customizing the header comes as part of the WordPress JetPack plug-in, it's called Image and it is super configurable so no need to try and bend other PageLines Features out of shape. Image allows configuring what pixel dimension an image will be plugged into and will resize and it allows left, center, right positioning options. There is also a link url field for creating links associated with your uploaded image. Super simple. Hooray!

Over the last month I had extensive communications with the developer of the (premium) Anything Boxes section (in Pagelines store) (Adam Munns) and the developer of the WP Polylang Multilingual plugin (Frederic Demarle).
This was because the following problem occurred:
Anything Boxes showed all posts of two languages (Dutch and English) on the respective static frontpages for each language. It should of course have filtered posts for Dutch language on the Dutch frontpage and English on the English frontpage.
The solution to this problem was simple in the end. When duplicating a page for use in another language the settings for Anything Boxes were not copied to the new page and I should have set these settings manually again on the new page. I wasn't aware of this, but it makes sense. Because of this the pages didn't know how to differentiate between posts from different languages.
The dev of Polylang told me that Polylang is currently smart enough to synchronize metas like Featured images and page templates but it does not work out of the box with metas created by plugins and themes but (according to Frederic) it is rather easy to add them in the list using the filter 'pll_copy_post_metas'.
He mentions that he is not sure that these 'PageLines Meta Settings' are stored in post meta but that would make sense according to him. He asks if the Pagelines dev team will be interested to support this feature in the future.
I'm also wondering if you will consider adding Polylang translation support for manually editable strings like the 'Read more…' strings in Pagelines Settings.
Well that's of course up to you but I thought to let you know to be able to take this into consideration. I also post this for other users in case they experience the same kind of trouble and are looking for an answer.
      Best regards,

I am using the shortcodes for tabs, as described in the documentation.

When I insert the following code:

      [pl_tabs][pl_tabtitlesection type="tabs"] [pl_tabtitle number="1"]Title 1[/pl_tabtitle] [pl_tabtitle number="2"]Title 2[/pl_tabtitle] [/pl_tabtitlesection] [pl_tabcontentsection] [pl_tabcontent active="yes" number="1"] Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit [/pl_tabcontent] [pl_tabcontent number="2"] Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit [/pl_tabcontent] [/pl_tabcontentsection] [/pl_tabs]

I get a strange output (in the attachment).

      Any ideas?

      Thanks in advance!
