Carousel shortcodes and 2.2.5

Recommended Posts

pixelsrzen

I'm trying to use the default carousel shortcodes from the demo page on my site. My slide images are all 720px x 720px, Right now, I'm only getting about a 60px deep sliver of my images showing up, and there are blank images between my valid images. Please tell me I'm just being an idiot and that I missed something in translation? I've spent hours attacking this; resizing images, trying different plug-ins, starting with fresh image uploads, deleting the post and starting over, etc. The only gallery plug-in I can get to work is the Gallery to Slideshow plug-in. Not even the default WP gallery works. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Okay, you're not being an idiot, but maybe you just need to turn off your computer and enjoy a Whiskey, put your feet up and de-stress. Blank images between your carousel slides are posts without feature images. Nothing to worry about there. Just go to the posts (the links are live) and upload a Feature Image for each post and save. Are we talking about the slider/carousel located at http://misportonline.com/category/sport/cycling/ ? You can use: http://demo.pagelines.me/tools/ which has a carousel/slider. You can also use CSS to resize the images, or, you can copy the carousel section and edit the image size in the section.php (in the copied section) Here's the basic info about our default carousel: http://www.pagelines.com/wiki/How_to_Use_the_Carousel_Section

OK. The carousel at http://misportonline.com/category/sport/cycling/ is just one I implemented so the client would have something to show. I had all my trouble trying to implement the slider at http://demo.pagelines.me/tools/ on a post instead of a page. Sorry for not being more clear. Does this provide any more clues? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. :)

@pixelsrzen - One thing that may be throwing a wrench in your carousel if you're using the shortcodes to do it, is that all of the images need to have a caption defined (also cannot be blank), or it will break. To do this you need to use enclosed shortcodes for the images like this:

	[pl_carouselimage first="yes" title="Slide 1" imageurl=""]caption here[/pl_carouselimage]
[pl_carouselimage title="Slide 2" imageurl=""]Here is the second slide, in all its glory.
	[/pl_carouselimage]
[pl_carouselimage title="Slide 3" imageurl=""]You can have as many slides as you can create.[/pl_carouselimage]

I would also recommend wrapping the whole carousel shortcode block with the [pl_raw] shortcode (not using this can sometimes create blank slides like you were saying) like this:
	[pl_raw]
	[pl_carousel name="test"]
	[pl_carouselimage first="yes" title="Slide 1" imageurl=""]caption here[/pl_carouselimage]
[pl_carouselimage title="Slide 2" imageurl=""]Here is the second slide, in all its glory.
	[/pl_carouselimage]
[pl_carouselimage title="Slide 3" imageurl=""]You can have as many slides as you can create.[/pl_carouselimage]
	[/pl_carousel]
	[pl_raw]

Hope this helps. If you're using the pagelines customize plugin or a child theme, and want to liberate yourself from the caption requirement (like me), I could give you some php to add to your functions.php file to do that. Cheers!

I concur with @bxbmedia that wrapping the code can help. Sometimes copying and pasting from one page to another can yield odd things like hidden breaks. That wrapping he gave was just the ticket to remove those.
