1.In the Author Plus area, all of the social media icons appear no matter what boxes are unchecked in the UI. If the UI doesn't function correctly, how else might I control these? 2. If I choose to create a menu in the dashboard, a cross appears that covers the first letter of the current page title in the vertical menu. I want to remove the cross but haven't been able to isolate it in firebug.

1. To hide the icons, you can use this code added to Custom Code > Custom CSS:

div.authorplusicons {display: none !important;}

2. I'm trying to figure out the origin of that image by inspecting, but it's not appearing in the code. Do you have an idea where that image could be coming from? Is that graphic uploaded to the media library? Could it possibly be from a plugin?

1. Thanks, Catrina. That got rid of all the icons. Please, can you tell me how to eliminate only selective icons, say just Google+? 2. That red cross is in the designer's (The Bearded Avenger's) demo, so it is part of his design. In his demo it doesn't cover the type of the menu items but sits to the left of each menu item I believe.

HI Suerama, When you enable the MUD theme, the welcome screen has all the setup information there. Have you read through this information ?

Yes, but I installed the .dat file using the Import/Export function because the link provided gave me a permissions error message. I don't know what I should have expected from that .dat file but it did change my column widths in a way that matched the demo. But now I'm left with that red cross over my Nav word. This cross only appears when I use the custom menu to re-order my menu pages, so if I can find another way to re-order the default menu, the problem would be resolved on a practical level. I could not install the .dat file using the link because when I clicked on it I found myself at http://kantalipsky.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=pagelines_account with this error message as the only thing on screen:

You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page
. I did not understand that and I have another thread open regarding this permissions issue.

The Bearded Avenger explained in another thread that the permissions issue is with a faulty "here" link, a glitch that he will fix. But I still have the issue with the red cross over-printing the Nav word. I'm wondering if someone could email The Bearded Avenger (the theme designer) and ask him about this issue. Also, the social icon controls is still an issue on this theme for me. Thanks!

The Bearded Avenger does take weekends off. I think that considering he works over 60 hours a week he's reasonably entitled to a couple of days off. I will alert him to your request. However, he's not dedicated to providing technical support in the forum. That job belongs to moderators. Please resist rejecting replies. It is neither necessary or helpful.

Thank you, batman, that did the trick. Rangelone, I'm truly sorry, seems like I've really offended you. I didn't expect that the Bearded Avenger would answer this question this weekend! Nor did I understand that it was inappropriate to ask for his help. As to the Reject button, as I said in another thread, the forum guidelines at http://www.pagelines.com/forum/discussion/12193/please-read-before-posting#Item_3 instruct:

Clicking "reject" on an answer tells the moderators that the answer provided did not solve your problem and you still need help.
So I thought, if my problem wasn't solved, that was the correct thing to do. I can see that the red reject button could be off-putting but honestly I thought that I was sending a neutral message that I still could use some help. The last thing I wanted to do was to be aggressive in any way. Truly sorry to offend. The issue with the cross in the nav is resolved. If possible I would like to learn how to control the social icons. Thank you.

{display:none !important;} may be too I haven??t MUD so I??m not sure.

Suerama, Believe me, no offense has been taken. My only concern was that the reject button places your topic into a class of topics that isn't always answer in normal queue. Any topic that's been answered is considered "Open" and they're answered as soon as possible. Priority answers are given to new topics, since we usually need to ask more questions, they're quick replies. Open topics need a bit more time. The rejected answers often need the most time for researching the right answer, testing, etc, hence they're answered last. If the moderator hasn't sufficient time before their schedule ends, it moves over to the next shift, thus slowing it further. Trust me, we're all big boys and girls here and don't take offense easily. We do like our clients to be happy though and not delayed where possible. Let us know if Batman's latest reply works for you. All the best.

      Over the last month I had extensive communications with the developer of the (premium) Anything Boxes section (in Pagelines store) (Adam Munns) and the developer of the WP Polylang Multilingual plugin (Frederic Demarle).
       
      This was because the following problem occurred:
      Anything Boxes showed all posts of two languages (Dutch and English) on the respective static frontpages for each language. It should of course have filtered posts for Dutch language on the Dutch frontpage and English on the English frontpage.
       
      The solution to this problem was simple in the end. When duplicating a page for use in another language the settings for Anything Boxes were not copied to the new page and I should have set these settings manually again on the new page. I wasn't aware of this, but it makes sense. Because of this the pages didn't know how to differentiate between posts from different languages.
       
      The dev of Polylang told me that Polylang is currently smart enough to synchronize metas like Featured images and page templates but it does not work out of the box with metas created by plugins and themes but (according to Frederic) it is rather easy to add them in the list using the filter 'pll_copy_post_metas'.
      He mentions that he is not sure that these 'PageLines Meta Settings' are stored in post meta but that would make sense according to him. He asks if the Pagelines dev team will be interested to support this feature in the future.
       
      I'm also wondering if you will consider adding Polylang translation support for manually editable strings like the 'Read more…' strings in Pagelines Settings.
       
      Well that's of course up to you but I thought to let you know to be able to take this into consideration. I also post this for other users in case they experience the same kind of trouble and are looking for an answer.

      I am using the shortcodes for tabs, as described in the documentation.

      When I insert the following code:
