Home Page permanently redirects to subpage

Recommended Posts

I was adding some test pages to see how the drop down navigation would work in StationPro and when I hit link top left to visit site, the URL - http://forgestudio.net'>http://forgestudio.net - automatically redirected to the subpage I had just created. I have deleted the pages I was working on to get back to normality but that didn't work. I re-instated the pages but now if you go to http://forgestudio.net'>http://forgestudio.net the redirect bounces back and forth between two pages until you get a "too many redirects" error. I have no idea what has happened. I did not touch the settings in Settings>Reading (which point to static page > Home) but now even changing to "Your latest posts" results in the same behaviour. Any idea, anyone? I'm baffled. Michael

OK - solved by gong into site phpMyAdmin and deleting some redirects that had accumulated in the wp_redirection_items table. It's a weird thing that it happened, though - wonder why? Michael

wp_redirection_items ? - Is this related to a plugin? Do you have Redirection under Tools in your admin? Thanks, Bryan

Bryan - 'wp_redirection_items' is a table in the SQL database which I accessed via phpMyAdmin which my host has available through my control panel. Nothing to do with plugins or any Pagelines or Wordpress files. Don't get me wrong - I am no expert, but seeing as these must have been created dynamically by StationPro, the only place to look was the SQL database. Don't even ask me what it is - I just know it's there!!! Yes, I have Redirection tool available, but there are no redirection entries there. Michael

Yes - just to update this weirdness, every time I add a new page, a redirect gets added to the SQL database pointing to the new page. The effect is (unless I delete the redirect) that clicking on Home or just trying to go to the home URL results in a redirect to the new page. Bizarre. Michael

I believe you on all marks, however most plugins create database tables just the same as the template and WordPress itself and mostly they're all indistinguishable all starting with wp_. Since you have "Redirection" under tools that means the plugin is activated which still makes me suspect to it. Please go to: Plugins in your menu and look over the list of activated plugins, deactivate or delete altogether Redirection and any other plugin you don't use or have no intention of using and let me know if the problem persists. Thanks, Bryan

Hello Bryan, We are having the same issue, our home page is going to a new sub page that we created. We disabled the "Redirection" plugin like was previously suggested, however we need the "Redirection plugin. We reactivated the plugin, but it reverts back to the same issue that we are having? Does you know how to fix this issue? Thanks, Wilbert
