invalid XML-RPC response back when trying to post from MacJournal, Blogsy, Posts, or Live Writer

Once I install the Pagelines Framework the following blogging apps stop working: MacJournal [desktop Mac software], Blogsy [iPad app], Posts [iPad app], and Live Writer [Windows software]. If I do a clean Wordpress installation the apps I mentioned above work properly. Once I install the Pagelines Framework I get an error when trying to post from those applications. I have searched different forums trying to find a solution to why I get an invalid XML-RPC response back when trying to post from those apps with Pagelines Framework installed. I found some forums where others are having similar issues using Windows Live Writer and Blogsy. Why am I getting a "Request Failed" Blog returned invalid data." message?: http://blogsyapp.com/faq/ Here Pagelines is mentioned as the reason for this error. http://wordpress.org/support/topic/windows-live-writer-no-go-with-wp-312 A user stated:

Note that WP "out of the box" works fine, but something with Pagelines is causing an issue with the xml-rpc process (I notified the Pagelines authors of this a long time ago). Making the above-mentioned change fixes this semi-permanently (if you upgrade or reinstall WP you'll need to go back in and change the line again).
The way I sort of solved the issue was by following the directions here: http://www.pagelines.com/forum/discussion/12927/live-writer-xmlrpc-issue-solved-i-think/p1 adding
if($file->guid && !($file->guid == NULL))
directly above
if ( strpos( $post_content, $file->guid ) !== false )

The reason I said, that it sort of solved the problem was because I still get weird errors from time to time. Errors like duplicate or color distorted media files, and issues that prevent posts from uploading because of error messages like "Unable to determine the URL for the uploaded image." I was wondering if there is a more permanent solution to making Pagelines Framework work with these applications? Thank you very much for your help.

Should never EVER be a reason to edit core wordpress files. Just tested live writer and it worked fine with a test post to my blog. if your getting a php warning with headers already sent then a script be it a plugin or whatever is outputting something, even a blank line will do it. Your best course of action is to turn off the php warnings, they should be off on a production server anyway. Most cheap shared hosts leave it turned on to cut down on support requests. you can force it off with this in wp-config.php:

@ini_set('display_errors', false);

I also just tested this, with another app, Blogsy, and successfully posted to my PageLines site with no issues. http://bearded-avenger.com/2012/08/test/

Simon, Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge about how to solve this problem, as well as for the advice to not edit core wordpress files. Your suggestion to use:

define('WP_DEBUG', false);
	@ini_set('display_errors', false);

in wp-config.php works really well. Now I am able to post from all the apps I mentioned, and I am no longer getting weird errors. I really appreciate your help with this. Beardedavenger, Thank you for taking your time to check on your end to make sure it was not a Pageline error, but something else on my hosting end. Your plugins rock by the way. Thank you both very much. Have a wonderful weekend.
