Matching Functionality with Terminology

Recommended Posts

jeffkauffmanjr

Hi, Trying digest the terminology and functionality of PageLines and thought it might be helpful to compare it to something I've used before. At the URL below, notice the Fashion section on the home page, and its corresponding place in the main menu. Fashion is a site category and the homepage is pulling in a picture and excerpt of the four latest posts. Most of what I've seen in the tutorials is referencing static content, however I'm curious if modules like the one in my example can be set up to dynamically pull in content. http://themes.themesector.com/?theme=avenue Thanks! Jeff

Hey Jeff, You can use a PageLines Store section to achieve a similar effect. The ones that spring to mind are Latest Blog Entries by Enrique (http://www.pagelines.com/store/sections/latest-blog-entries/) or even PostPins by PageLines that comes free with the +Plus membership (http://www.pagelines.com/store/sections/pagelines-postpins/) In addition, you could set up a carousel or feature slider and select a category as post source. Multiple ways to do this, but definitely possible :)

Hi Stefan, What would you say the difference is between the Cat Loop plugin and the Latest Blog Entries plugin? Link to Cat Loop plugin: http://www.pagelines.com/store/sections/catloop/ Thanks!

Cat Loop allows options for displaying certain categories. Latest Blog Entries plugin deals with the latest blog entries you have (regardless of category).

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.
