Pagelines won't change after altering Site Design Mode +other problems

Recommended Posts

loefbijter.nl

Hi my site won't change after I switch design modes from full-width to fixed width. Also I can't seem to change the width of the page and the black bar at the bottom of the page of the standard theme seems to be gone. Finally my social icons are also not showing at the top of the page anymore (they're supposed to show next to the white arrow. I have all plugins disabled and reinstalled Pagelines but the problems persists.

I visited your site but it led to an error. Can you please post the correct URL?

That is really weird. I'll contact my host right away. Could you please send me a printscreen? I'm sorry I know this has nothing to do with PageLines but I'm pretty shocked that my site cannot be reached by everyone :-0

Hi I didn't contact my host yet. Good to hear it is working again! Unfortunately the issues mentioned in my first post are still not resolved :-(

No, no custom CSS, I can give you the login details if that helps?

OK, So I have visited your website and noticed that you do not have a custom child theme active nor are you using the PageLines Customisation plugin. So can you tell me where you have added this custom CSS please.

full_width #page .page-canvas, body.fixed_width {
	background-image: url(http://www.loefbijter.nl/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/introachtergrondkleiner3.gif);
	background-repeat: no-repeat;
	background-attachment: scroll;
	background-position: 50% 0%;
	}
body.fixed_width #page, body.fixed_width #footer, body.canvas .page-canvas {
	max-width: 900px;
	}

I selected the fixed bodywidth and the 900px in the Layout editor, the background was uploaded in the Color Control menu.

Hi, OK, I am not sure what the issue is. But would it be possible for you to disable all active plugins and then try to add a color to your Content Background which can be set in Color Control. Then refresh your website and see if this resolves your issue. It is difficult for me to identify the issue, as your Wordpress Admin Dashboard has been re-arranged and is in Dutch I think. I honestly believe that a plugin is causing the issue.

Hi Danny, I disabled all plugins and the problems are still there. I switched hosting today to Zippykid so the backend is now in English, could you have another look? The user info I sent earlier is still valid. Johannes

Changing the page background color is working. I need the site to look like it does now but the content (our sponsor logos at the bottom of the homepage) seem like they don't have enough width but changing the content width doesn't do anything. With the previous version of PageLines that I had, sometimes the contend width changed back to a default setting after I made some edits to the site and then I'd go in and set it back to 900px and everything was fine again. Apart from the content width problem the black bar form the standard theme below seems to be missing and the social icons are gone.

Oh and the last thing is that the menu is displayed rather odd, it sprung to the right and looks smaller compared to the Pagelines Demo.

Do you have any custom CSS controlling these problem areas (or any other custom CSS)?

No, no custom css (except that I changed the width and background image in the Pagelines menu.) I don't even know how to code in css :-)

On the site, what is the missing black bar you are referring to? Was it just a thick bottom border or a footer area?

I think it was just a thick bottom border, it only contained the Pagelines logo (the leaf). I switched it to my own logo which you can see at the bottom of the page (black square with the 3 white shapes).

Hi guys, Just saying that the site width changes in the Layout Editor don't get saved here either, but what I have found was if I log out immediately after saving the changes and then I log in, then the changes get saved. You can try this @johannesvinke see if this solves the Layout editor problems. It did for me. Istvan

The Layout editor most certainly works as intended. If you're experiencing issues, it is either a plug-in, custom code or your server configuration that is causing the issue. I have tried a 4 different setups and the layout editor works as intended. I have created a short clip demonstrating me changing the layout without any problem. http://screencast.com/t/myypEh7uVk7

I changed the template of the front page to Default and then back to the modified template and now it's working! My social icons are still not showing up though :-(

In Dashboard > PageLines > Site Options > Header And Footer and scroll down to "Branding Section - Social Icon Position" and tell me what numbers you have there. Also, is "Display the Blog RSS icon and link?" checked? In Dashboard > PageLines > Drag & Drop, in the Header, what sections do you have there?
