oops - i hijacked the footer....

Recommended Posts

keithfoustgmailcom

ok...we added a plugin for video lightbox, and somehow we messed up the footer. i removed the plugin, and we still have a messed up footer. we updated the template. deleted the template. reinstalled the template. We used firebug and then we closed the markup loop and got the pagelines logo back to the bottom of the page, however the footer is still jacked up no matter what we have done. Got any ideas what we are missing? http://test.joychurchinternational.org thanks!

It's only happening in the Google Chrome browser. Here is what is coming up in the firebug light extension for Chrome.

<div class="fboxtext">
<p>
If this is your first time to Joy Church, click on the video below for a fun video message from Pastor Jim Frease.

</p>
</div>

</div>

</div>

</div>

</div>

<div class="clear"/>

</div>

<div class="clear"/>

<div id="footer">

<div class="effect">

<div class="content">

<div id="fcolumns_container" class="fix">

<div class="fcol">

<div class="fcol_pad">

<h3>Pages</h3>

<ul id="menu-footer-nav" class="footer_nav">
</div>
</div>
<div class="fcol">
<div class="fcol">
<div class="fcol">
</div>
<div class="clear"/>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="clear"/>
<div id="cred" class="pagelines">
<hr class="hidden"/>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://test.joychurchinternational.org/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.form.js?ver=2.02m"/>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://test.joychurchinternational.org/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/scripts.js?ver=2.3"/>
</body>
</html>
I haven't been able to replicate the issue in Firefox. Is there a master reset for the footer or something? Thanks Pagelines!

It seems to only be doing it in Chrome. Here is was the firebug extension for Chrome says.

<div class="fboxtext">

thanks!!!! The nice looking site is because of you geniuses at pagelines!! thanks for the professional templates!! unfortunately - it is still happening BUT ONLY in chrome and safari....not when using ie or firefox. When pulled up in chrome or safari, you will see that the link on the video image in feature box 3 is somehow messing up the footer. here are the errors: the entire footer box is positioned off to the left, the outline that is around the entire footer box is missing, the logo link in the footer is linking to the video that is in feature box 3, and the pages link is also linking to the video in feature box 3. Our web team has been looking to see where the code is messed up, but cannot locate it. Got any suggestions? we will take any inputs...(as we really want to go live with our new awesome pagelines site this week!) thanks pagelines!

here is what our web team says: Thanks Andrew! It appears as though it is only happening when using Chrome or Safari. Here is what the Firebug extension shows when selecting the footer:

<div id="container" class="fix ">

<div id="footer">

<div class="effect">

<div class="content">

<div id="fcolumns_container" class="fix">

<div class="fcol">

</div>

</div>

<div class="fcol">
<div class="fcol">
<div class="fcol">
<div class="fcol">
</div>
<div class="clear"/>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="clear"/>
<div id="cred" class="pagelines">
<hr class="hidden"/>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://test.joychurchinternational.org/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.form.js?ver=2.02m"/>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://test.joychurchinternational.org/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/scripts.js?ver=2.3"/>
</body>
</html>
we have no idea how to get all of the links to the mov file out of there...is there some sort of master reset for the footer or something? Thanks Pagelines!!

It sounds like some missing markup. Considering it's only on the home page, double check your features or your embed code to make sure the code is complete. Also try running it through http://validator.w3.org/

Okay, looking through the errors on your homepage: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Ftest.joychurchinternational.org%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0 Most all of them are related to missing alt tags and character encoding with can't mess up the layout, however at the very end of the code, I might have found the culprit; Line 388 (right where that little video image code is); It looks like you left out an end tag `` and closed a link with the wrong syntax: ` a>` when it should be ``. Hope that fixes it for you. Thanks, Bryan
