gregnosaty 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 I recently upgraded to StationPro and decided to create some pages to organize the site. I currently have only twelve posts. I'd like to know if it is possible to move existing posts to a new Page?
cmunns 16 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 You want to display these posts on a new page? or do you actually want to transfer over the post content so that they ARE new pages? I hope my distinction is clear
gregnosaty 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2010 I want to move individual posts onto a new page or create a new page using a group of posts. Right now my posts are in 3 channels: documentary, editing and photography. I would like each channel to be on its own page. cheers, greg
bryan-hadaway 3 Report post Posted July 23, 2010 Okay, since you can now create your menu how you see fit in WordPress 3.0 this should be pretty simple. If you haven't already, tag each post with the corresponding category; documentary, editing or photography then you can manually add those items to the menu here: Appearance > Menus So, you'll create 3 new menu links/tabs arranging them with drag and drop however you like: Documentary http://www.website.com/category/documentary/ Editing http://www.website.com/category/editing/ Photography http://www.website.com/category/photography/ Of course swapping out website for your actual info. Thanks, Bryan
gregnosaty 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2010 Ok, I have made 3 menus that include the URL's as you described above i.e <http://cinemontage.ca/blog/category/editing>. All my posts are tagged with the one of the 3 categories. When I select the menu on my blog I get this error message: "404 Not Found The resource requested could not be found on this server! Powered By LiteSpeed Web Server LiteSpeed Technologies is not responsible for administration and contents of this web site!" Sorry but I'm not much of HTML programmer. cmunns 16 Report post Posted July 23, 2010 How are you creating the menu items? What version of WP you running?
gregnosaty 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2010 Ok I found a video tutorial about Finding Category ID's I used Theme Options>Header and Nav>Index (Posts Page) Categories List and included the Catergory ID's. This of course created a sub nav menu on my blog. It's not exactly what I was trying to do or what Bryan was describing but it will do the trick for now. cheers, greg
gregnosaty 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2010 I created a new menu. then I would select a category and add to menu, then I would add the URL as Bryan described above but I entered it into the Custom Links window and also hit add to menu. I've since experimented and discovered that If I leave out the Custom Links step the menus work fine. Now I'd like to know how to add the "home" icon to the menu to bring viewers back to the full list of blog entries. I'll have not yet figured out my original question: how to create new pages and add existing posts to them. For instance I'd like to have a Home Page, Blog Page, Recent Projects etc... cheers, greg
Andrew 207 Report post Posted July 25, 2010 Hey Greg, Could you maybe show us a mockup of what you'd like to see? I'm sure its possible with maybe some custom code or a plugin/shortcode
