NavBar and Fixed NavBar menu not usable and behave weirdly when responsive.

Hello all, NOTE: my site url is protected so I can't give out the U:P of that... I want to use Fixed NavBar and discovered that I've got the same strange problem with both NavBar and Fixed NavBar. The menus appear correctly, but when I either a) shrink the browser window to test responsiveness, or B) view my site on my Motorla Atrix (540x960) ... ...this Screen%20Shot%202012-07-12%20at%2012.04.01%20PM.png ...becomes this... Screen%20Shot%202012-07-12%20at%2012.04.14%20PM.png That three-line symbol in the second screenshot give "javascript:void(0)" when I hover over it. What is this symbol and where did my menu go? Can't I use Fixed NavBar in a responsive mode and see it on a phone? Cheers, T

Hi Catrina, Yes - my phone has no troubles with Javascript in any of the 4 browsers I use. Also, this effect is seen with Safari, Firefox, and Chrome on my Macbook Pro. I would really like to solve this, or I have to chuck my current site design, but don't know where to start looking. Many thanks indeed.

Hi, As far as a I am aware, The Fixed Navigation which is based off of Twitter Bootstrap is not fixed on devices such as tablets/phones. The button/icon or symbol you see is standard for most responsive sites when navigation menu items become to wide to display correctly, they revert to this icon/button/symbol and when a user clicks on this, the menu will appear. Where are you seeing this javascript error ?

Everything is completely normal. The navigation, turns to a "responsive" navigation when you make the screen small. If you hover over that button, it sure will say javascript whatever. http://screencast.com/t/62BZ83mj Click the button, and the menu drops down. Danny is also right on, in that the "fixed nav" will not be fixed on mobile phones, because it could cover too much screen real-estate. Nick

Hi everyone, Thanks for the input - I sort of thought that symbol should be a menu, but the Javascript:void(0) shows me that there is no menu to display. That javascript is seen when I hover and/or click on that symbol. Shouldn't the Javascript:void(0) actually be something different, like a menu instruction?

Hi Catrina - well, maybe I'm not using the right terminology, but when the menu is shrunk to where the menu items disappear and that symbol is showing, shouldn't that cause pop-up a menu or some other way of navigating the site? This does not happen presently and the the menu items are 'gone'.

Have you considered using our mobile menu plugin? http://www.pagelines.com/store/plugins/mobile-menu/

We wont be able to help you, without a link to see your site. It sounds like there could be a javascript conflict, if when you tap the icon, the menu is not dropping down.
