hireconrad 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2012 Hi, i made a mess of things this evening, and had to build my site from scratch. Didn't take as long as i thought it would, however now a new issue has popped up. When reloading any page with feature images, there is a flicker (the other feature images not yet displayed appear for a split second). I was having this issue only with IE prior to messing up my site today, but now I've tried it with the newest safari, chrome, IE and firefox. They all do it. How can i fix it? hireconrad 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2012 The flicker only appears after reloading the page, not when you first load up. Its even happening on my iPad. click on the Rates/Locations page. Let it load up. then click on the Rates/Locations menu button again. Then again. Then again. You will see the other feature images soon to be displayed appear below the feature image. Any ideas? hireconrad 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2012 The flicker only seems to appear if i click on the menu button of the same page. It does not flicker if i refresh the page with the browser refresh button.
Rob 547 Report post Posted July 11, 2012 Hi, I've tried the same method you described... in IE, Firefox and Chrome and only saw one flicker in Chrome simply because the page hadn't finished loading to begin with. Once it had finished, I clicked the same menu item over again several times in each browser and no flicker. The site was fast, cleanly loaded and did not produce any problems or slowness that could be attributed to or caused by flicker. The issue might simply be your computer. Danny's in England. I'm in New Jersey so it's clearly not an issue of the site. Former PageLines Moderator, Food Expert and Raconteur
hireconrad 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2012 ok. it still does it on my computer, but i can live with it if its an isolated issue. thanks for checking.
catrina 103 Report post Posted July 12, 2012 I also don't see the issue when I look at your site. Do you need further assistance with anything else? Please read the docs before posting. hireconrad 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2012 Im happy the issue is isolated with my site. I do have another question: I would like to put a ribbon on the top left or right corner of my features. Since the site is new i would like to add a ribbon that says "New Website". Is it possible to add a ribbon on all features at once (or would i need to edit each feature image? If its not possible to and a ribbon on the features, how and where can i add one?
catrina 103 Report post Posted July 13, 2012 You'll need to add the ribbon to each feature image and it'll be easier to add it using an image editing program (with HTML and CSS, it'll likely be too consuming to implement the correct positioning). conco7 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2012 hireconrad: This isn't your fault or your machine. This problem started after the most recent Pagelines upgrade. It is most prevalent on Apple products (Safari and/or iPad) and is caused by the Features images loading inline & stacked one on top the other. Once the page loads then the images "hide" behind each other properly. This is bothersome because with slow Internet connections the stacked images obscure content as they load. If you have four or five images in Features it looks really bad. I've pointed it out several times to Pagelines support but they are not acknowledging the bug.
