Feature Text Background Color Delayed

Ever since I upgraded to the new pagelines, I've noticed that my home page feature slider is slightly delayed, meaning it will take a second for the image to catch up with the text, and the text just sort of hangs there over a gray background for a second. Do you have any idea what's causing this and how to fix it? Thanks! Dianna

Hi Danny, That's weird. Maybe it's my connection, or my browser? (Firefox). Mine is still doing it. It's just sort of stalls right before the background pictures comes in. Any ideas? -Dianna

Dianna, I see the minor problem in Firefox. I think the issue is that you're having the slider crop the images, not scale them. The slider isn't a graphics program, so its functionality with images is simply to pull them and display them. Your images are far taller than the size you're seeking to show. I'd suggest using a graphics editor and resizing or cropping the images to the specific size you'd like, reducing the memory use for the page and the processing time considerably. This should work. For example, this file: http://www.buildingblocksalamedacounty.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/prosproj1.png is 2,189px ?— 1,461px (scaled to 810px ?— 541px) and 3,463.91 KB (3,547,039 bytes - over 3Mb). Using a graphics editor to resize to 810px and cropping to 541px high would bring the image down in physical size, but also in Kb to a manageable number. Each of your images is pretty big, so the minor lag time you're seeing is, in my humble opinion, a bit of good luck... as it could be much, much worse.
