Pagelines 2.2.1 and features not working

Recommended Posts

I have a development site that I upgraded to 2.2.1 and my feature images are gone. The background I loaded does show, but the images that overlay the background are gone. Since I can't give you the link, I uploaded screenshots here. http://imgur.com/a/aVWiZ There is a debug message on my features interface as well that says "View template debug: Calling function is improved_trim_excerpt". I am using the Views plugin, but this page does not contain a view or a template.... so I'm a bit mystified. Here is my debug info below:

WordPress Version : 3.3.2 Multisite Enabled : No Current Role : Administrator Framework Path : /u01/var/www-vhosts/fel-dev/wp-content/themes/pagelines Framework URI : http://fel-dev.syr.edu/wp-content/themes/pagelines Framework Version : 2.2.1 Framework Build : 2.2.1 PHP Version : 5.3 PHP Open basedir restriction : Yes! How is the excerpt in the slider (the text) generated? Manually or via a plugin of some kind? I'm trying to figure out why debug would throw an error in a field where normally people just paste or write some text. Can you screenshot one of the slides complete setup?

Sure. Here are the screenshots of my setup screen. Right now (because I'm still in the layout and early building stage) the setup is literally just images. The slider text is not text at all, but just part of the uploaded png file. I did the text in Photoshop. The light grayish background container with the drop shadow is also an image I uploaded for the background. Right now the feature doesn't link to anything and is just for showing the "clients" what it will look like. http://imgur.com/a/8KCFi Additionally (if it helps) my feature boxes admin panel, banner admin panel, basically all the sections admin panels are also showing this Views debug error in the admin. Thankfully, for now, the boxes seem to be displaying fine. Here are screenshots of both admin and front end... as well as my 'Views' settings where I have debug enabled and you can see none of these post types are calling a view template. http://imgur.com/a/VpiVh On a hunch, I also just now uploaded an image to one of the box sets (thinking maybe it wouldn't display with the same issue as the feature set). It displayed the image just fine. So I'm stumped, but it doesn't take much to stump me either. I feel like a chimp trying to build a spaceship.

Hi, May I ask why you're uploading two images to your feature slider, can you remove the grey shadow image and replace it with the one below it on this image please. http://imgur.com/a/8KCFi And see if this resolves the issue. If this doesn't resolve your issue, then please deactivate all non-pagelines plug-ins and see if this resolves the issue.

I did that, and it does work. I was uploading two images because there is a field for "background image" and a field for "media image", so it seemed the system was built to handle it. I combined the bg and the text/photo portion in Photoshop and uploaded them as one. Yes, it does work. I am still getting the "debug error" in the admin of the features, boxes, and any other sections. See here: http://imgur.com/a/uDm6x concerned overall about the behavior of Pagelines after the upgrade. Specifically, there is some interaction with the Views plugin. I can not simply deactivate Types or Views plugins, as they are the engine for the data on the entire site. I have tons of scholarship data in there that will be wiped out. There have to be other customers using Types and Views with Pagelines, and it was fine prior to the upgrade of Pagelines, so the problem must be within the upgrade. Do I need to move this to a public server and purchase Pro support? I need to know it's stable because this is a very high profile site, and I am also evaluating Pagelines and Types/Views for wider use by the University.

Hi Blythe, I have no experience with the Types/Views plug-in however, I have searched out forum and there seems to be a few users who are experiencing issues with this plug-in. I will report this and see if there is anything that can be done to make this compatible.

@rangelone @Danny I had my development site brought over to a production server so that I could get support. http://fel-dev.syr.edu/?page_id=92/ On the news/blog page, you will see the text "View template debug: Calling function is improved_trim_excerpt" appearing at the beginning of all my posts (which are now just lorem ipsum). I am on the latest version of Pagelines (2.2) and also just upgraded to the latest version of Types and Views. Here is my updated debug info below: WordPress Version : 3.3.2 Multisite Enabled : No Current Role : Administrator Framework Path : /u01/var/www-vhosts/fel-dev/wp-content/themes/pagelines Framework URI : http://fel-dev.syr.edu/wp-content/themes/pagelines Framework Version : 2.2.2 Framework Build : 2.2.2 PHP Version : 5.3 Child theme : Yes /u01/var/www-vhosts/fel-dev/wp-content/themes/transparency http://fel-dev.syr.edu/wp-content/themes/transparency PHP Open basedir restriction : Yes! PHP memory : 128 Mysql version : 5.1.49-rel11.3-log Sections DIR : Unable to write to {PL_EXTEND_DIR} /u01/var/www-vhosts/fel-dev/wp-content/uploads/2012/07 PHP type : Cgi-fcgi OS : Linux Launchpad : Logged in ( bscherr ) Licence : Pro Plugins : 6 akismet/akismet.php filebrowser/filebrowser.php pagelines-googlefonts/pagelines-googlefonts.php sexy-snips/sexy-snips.php types/wpcf.php wp-views/wp-views.php Hopefully this helps. Won't be able to take this site live until there is a fix. If this is custom development that needs to be done, so be it but this site MUST go live with both Pagelines and Types/Views working.

Blythe, I don't see any error or debug statement visible on the page. I don't see it in the pages' source either. I suspect that if you have cache enabled, the string is stuck in there or, possibly in the cache of your computer. On your homepage, some of your slides still don't seem to show, but likely there's a simple explanation for that. Check the image size for consistency with the ones that work and if there's any broken HTML in the slide's excerpt. Try turning off debug and see what happens.

Yep, sure 'nuff my Chrome cache still had it there. Opened up in IE and Mozilla and it's gone. :D Um, thanks and sorry. Just a bit jumpy about the site is all.
