Upgrading Platform Pro

Recommended Posts

I'm a novice and been reading but still a little scary to update without some help. I would like to update to the new Platform 2.0. I purchased Pro. Do I need to update Wordpress first? Can you please help me with step by step directions?

@christycollins That website looks like it's done in flash, in which case would negate the use of WordPress, unless you plan on using Flash as sort of landing page. The upgrade from Platform to Framework is very easy provided that you follow the instructions here: http://www.pagelines.com/wiki/How_to_Migrate_from_Platform_to_PageLines EXACTLY. Also, I would recommend upgrading to WordPress 3.4 before migrating to PageLines Framework.

Will upgrading to WordPress 3.4 potentially cause many problems? Can I just click the update at the top of the dashboard? Thank you for your help.

@christycollins It depends on how you have customized Platform, or the plugins that you use. If you are using plugins that are out of date and do not work with 3.4, then it may cause problems. However, Platform (out of the box) works just fine with 3.4.

Henry If I purchased Platform Pro, I can't just install through Wordpress can I? I want to update to the newest Platform Pro. Is that Framework? Where would I go to get this. I am assuming that it is not free.

Let me be a little more clear. I purchased PPro last year around this time. I now want to update that. Can I just do it through Word Press? I paid so much for PPro and didn't want Wordpress to just install the basic Platform. I guess I thought that I would need to be logged in somewhere to get the updated version of what I paid for.
