tkevingallagher 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 I installed the new Pagelines update last night as well, now the Buddypress pages aren't working. (Also had to reset most of my widgets since they all disappeared.) I tried deactivating all the buddpress plugins and I deleted and reinstalled the buddypress for pagelines plugin, and everything is still not loading. The site also seems like it's loading slowly to me, let me know if you feel otherwise. Thanks, --Kevin (RPR)
Rob 547 Report post Posted June 22, 2012 Kevin, first, try running BPCompatibility again. Next, make sure you have Base activated. See if that works and keep us posted. Former PageLines Moderator, Food Expert and Raconteur
tkevingallagher 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2012 Great. Seems to be working now. I already had the Base theme activated but I'm still getting this error message on the top of my page... You'll need to activate a BuddyPress-compatible theme to take advantage of all of BuddyPress's features. We've bundled a default theme, but you can always install some other compatible themes or update your existing WordPress theme. One other thing. I downloaded SI Captcha to get rid of the spam signups but it's still happening and I'm getting a lot of spam created user groups. :(
Rob 547 Report post Posted June 23, 2012 For the groups issue, go to Dashboard > BuddyPress > Settings and select Yes under Restrict group creation to Site Admins? and save settings. That prevents the creation of groups. I had the same problem. The spam issue is one that plagues Buddypress. Check their forums if anyone has suggestions. I've tried Ban Hammer, SI Capture, s2Member, etc. Still, I have to delete users daily. The message is not important. I have one too. It's okay. Do you have the PL BuddyPress plugin activated? tkevingallagher 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2012 Error message disappeared after a while. Yes, I have the Pagelines for Buddypress plugin activated. Everything seems to be working alright. Went through and deleted a few spam users/groups. Tks for help.
Rob 547 Report post Posted June 23, 2012 No problem. Glad it's resolved as best we can. Unfortunately, spammers and user registration is solely a BuddyPress not a theme issue as I'm sure you understand.
