Custom CSS being dumped in HTML file with Headercode

Recommended Posts

bluesquirrel

Hello, I was talking on another topic about creating an additional background image to sit in the top left hand corner of my site ( http://www.pagelines.com/forum/discussion/comment/106840 ) I managed to achieve the effect I was aiming for thanks to a little guidance but now Pagelines or Wordpress seems to be dumping my Custom CSS together with my custom Headercode both into my HTML files. I really can't work out if I've done something wrong or if something else is; as I've not seen this reported on here before I thought it was worth making a post in case the solution helps others in the future too. Here's how one of my pages looks:

Brighthelmston Colours></div> <style type= .canvas #page-canvas, .full_width #page-canvas, body.fixed_width { background-image:url('http://www.brighthelmston.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/gray_paper_texture_background_seamless_pattern.jpg'); background-position:center; background-repeat:repeat; background-attachment:fixed; } #page, #dynamic-content { min-height:none; } .main-nav li a { font-weight:bold; } #stripes { position:absolute; background-position:top left; background-repeat:no-repeat; background-attachment:fixed; z-index:2; }

Many thanks for any ideas and apologies if it's just a stupid mistake of mine
Custom CSS together with my custom Headercode both into my HTML files
^ I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what this means. Do you mean that the custom CSS and non-CSS code is being added to the template code HTML?

[SOLVED] In the hope that it can help future stupid people like me here's what I'd done..... I'd simply missed a closing set of " from part of my Headercode section. Missing that closing " had caused Pagelines to treat my Custom CSS and Headercode as block of code and dump them both into my HTML. If you mess up like I did http://bayimg.com/mAPFBAADe Here's what the code will look like http://bayimg.com/maPFaaADe Now I just need to find out how to get my image to sit under id=page-main as well as under id=header - http://bayimg.com/napfOaaDe - grr silly stripes, get under all that white space! Sorry to have led you on a wild goose chase Catrina, I hope you're enjoying watching me learn! Lloyd

Thanks Danny, much appreciated. Would you like to give me a nudge in the right directon as to why my stripes go UNDER the head but OVER the content? I want it under both - I've been playing with the Z index but without any luck.

There are folks who would pay extra for that effect. I'm not sure why it happened but it's really cool.

I'm happy to offer my services as a Pagelines Idiot and recreate this crap effect on anyone's site! I'm starting to think the answer isn't in the Z Index after all

I played with z-index but couldn't get it either. Evidently, the image overlaps just a portion of that corner, but I don't know which element it is. We've just had some changes in the CSS elements and I'm sorry, I'm just not up to speed with them yet. It's only been three days. Perhaps if you did recreate it in demo.pagelines.com you might see how it went, and see how to fix it. And for the record, the people who work here are not "Pagelines Idiot[s]". We work very hard to come up with solutions to often complex problems and unfortunately, we can't always replicate them or resolve them. The stripes on your site are a customization that's not part of our system normally. We want to support you 100% but if people do things outside the box, it's also outside the scope of support. Let us know if you can in fact, replicate it and we'll still try to help.

Rangelone - for the record you've jumped the gun and totally misread my message, I was referring to myself as a "Pagelines Idiot" as I've created a problem in comparison to the "Pagelines Professionals" who resolve problems.

If the z-index isn't working, I'm not certain of any other workaround other than to just create a full-size background image incorporating the stripe. Have you considered just adding the stripe to the corner of a full-size background image (where tiling isn't required and doesn't need to be enabled for the grey texture)?
