I'm using the plugin' (Pages Posts) to get my post excerpts to show on a select few pages. I organize the pages by category and only show those post excerpts related to those specific categories on those pages. The problem I'm running into is that I'm using BOXES on the main page (my blog) to highlight a few things. BUT...Pages Post mimics the BOXES on all of pages it's showing excerpts on...and that's not what I want. (...basically, I want the blog page to be just a little different.) ...just to complicate things. ;-) I've tried using just a text widget or something else besides BOXES on the blog...but the issue is more that Pages Posts mimics the main blog page layout on all of the other pages it's putting posts on. Maybe there's something else besides Pages Posts that someone could recommend? ...or maybe I need to rethink my layout strategy? Thoughts?

Hi Rhelling, I have just viewed the plug-in on the Wordpress repo and it hasn't been upgraded since 2010, did this stop working when updated to Wordpress 3.4 ?

Please search our forums, before posting!

I never stopped working...it just seems to have a few issues with some of the features of PageLines. (i.e....limited customization - either look like the blog page on other pages or use it's standard layout.) You probably need to view my site to understand. I have (2) boxes on the blog page...they show on every other "category page" as well. http://www.soccercleatsplus.com I guess I'm just looking for post excerpts to appear on other pages while being able to customize my front blog page. Any other plugin' recommended?

Instead of using an outdated plugin that's likely to break with each successive WP update, try Special Recent Posts http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/special-recent-posts/

rangelone... This is probably outside the scope for this forum, but I've tried that plugin before. (...I'm trying it right now again.) The problem I have is that I have my main blog....then (3) separate category pages: Footwear, Clothing, Equipment. When I use Special Recent Posts....I can set it to show a certain category...but it's a widget. Because it's a widget, that same category shows on all of the pages.

Okay, I am presuming you're using the Pro edition. But if you look at the link I provided, under the Installation tab, you'll see at the very bottom, a shortcode. Above it, you'll see a list of args you may include in a shortcode, written as they are in the example at the very bottom. On custom category pages, you can create a specific shortcode for the category, and on the homepage, you can leave out the category option, showing as a result, all posts. The shortcode from SRP may be place in page editing areas, boxes, sidebar text widgets, footer text widgets, etc. etc. I use it all over.

hey rangelone... you seem to know something about Special Recent Posts PRO... I'm using it pretty much standard 'out of the box' with the following code:
[srp widget_title_hide="yes" post_limit="3" post_content_type="excerpt" post_current_hide="no" post_date="no" post_author_url="no" post_category_link="no" title_string_break="" string_break_link="no" category_include="6" category_include_exclusive="yes" nofollow_links="yes"]
...but it's just not giving me a visually correct solution?!? see attached. (I'm getting a partial border around the thumbnails and it's putting some type of padding on the content box - even though everything appears to be set to 0px.) http://www.hellingent.com/question01.PNG advice?
