Complicated nav bar CSS question

Recommended Posts

sbarrak

my nav bar is working perfectly, EXCEPT for when I go to the following two places in my site: 1. http://www.stephbarrak.com/shows/past-shows/ 2. http://www.stephbarrak.com/2012/06/01/painted-face-the-single-is-here/ When I go to number 1, "shows" in the nav bar should be pink font. With number two, "news" should stay pink as well. The font is pink to let the use know which page they are on..does anybody know how to fix this?

Hi Steph, Actually, it's working as it should because the menus don't factor in the hierarchy in coloring an active state. When you go to Past Shows, you're no longer on the Shows page. You've moved on, so the menu says "this page is active, therefore the font is pink". While the Shows page is the parent item to the child Past Shows in terms of the menu, that correlation doesn't extend to the styling. It would have to be manually created as custom code. As for the 2nd link, there doesn't appear to be a menu category for that post for it to have an active state in the menu. I'm not a CSS expert, but I think to achieve this, you'll need one, perhaps one of our Pros, or, you might find a suitable example to match what you want to do http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/ (use your browser's option to view source code to find the CSS). Hope this helps.

Very good points, I think I'm just going to have to live with it. Thanks for the clarification!
