Feature different sizes on different computer screens

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am using a mac book pro with Safari. On my screen, the feature image is how I wish it to appear. However, when I check the page on other computers, the image is blown up and exceeds the parameters of the feature. I have not tried any CSS. I have attempted to remedy the problem using the fixed height and aspect ratio but to no avail. Could someone please shed some light on how this can be fixed? Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks, Tyler

Tyler, Which image is being blown up out of proportion? It helps us to figure out what solution is applicable to see the specific problem. Also, when you look on other computers, do you mean other browsers on Windows and/or Mac?

The main image on the slider is set as a background image (it has the chalkboard background and decorative text on it.) I am not sure if this is a browser problem, though I suspect it is. I am using both Windows and Mac. The picture enlarges on Windows, but the feature remains the same, therefor the picture does not fit the frame. Please let me know if this helps. Thanks!

Tyler, Not all browsers are capable of handling scaling dynamically. I didn't realize just how big that background image really is. Since the risk of non-scaling browsers is great, I'd strongly recommend that you use an image editor to scale the image down to the size you want it to appear and use a fixed-height for the slider (I think it's 388px). Most decent graphics editors (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, etc.) will proportionally scale the image for you given one dimension.
