Possible to display captions under feature images in blog posts?

Is it possible to display the captions for featured images under them on the blog post pages? All of the images we use are Creative Commons, and adherence to the license requires that we give credit and a link back. I read http://www.pagelines.com/forum/discussion/8473/how-to-display-a-caption-to-featured-image/p1 and others about this problem but not sure about it since it's a year old. I have verified that the caption is indeed in the right field in WordPress's "Media" library. I'm attaching a screen shot of a blog entry page, as the site I am working on is password-protected so I can't show you the live site. Basically, I'd like the caption to appear underneath the image, one way or another.

Using Firebug for Firefox, you should be able to identify the slider's area, expand the height then provide padding above the actual text area so that the text is below. However, let me point out too that if you're only doing this to provide credit to the photographer, you could provide that credit anywhere on the page, including as a footnote at the end of the post. You could also add a small line inside the slide's text area and style it to a small font (7 or 8pt) to provide credit. Either of those solutions might be easier that writing lots of CSS code.

Rangelone, it's not a slider. It's a featured image attached to a post. I agree with the point about the credit to the photographer perhaps also being included in the body of the post, but it doesn't allow the caption to travel with the photo. The caption in the media library could travel with the photo, no matter where or how I use the photo on the site.

Featured images don't display captions the same way a regular image (inserted directly into a post) would because they're two different kinds of images. By default in a lot of WordPress themes, an image inserted into a post displays the caption because it's coded somewhere in the template files, but if you want that functionality. for a featured image, there may be customization required. Alternatively, a text watermark with the credit info can be added to the bottom of the image itself but I don't know if that's an acceptable option.
