By line does not designate and author

I figured out how to add a "by line" to each of my posts. Unfortunately, it says something along the lines of "By On March 1, 2012." It completely skips the name of the author. I would be find having it say "admin" or my name but I have no idea where the setting for this line is located. How do I add the author's name to this by line on each post?
