Download Manager data integrity

Hello all, I have the download manager plugin active and it works fine however I think that my numbers are being distorted by repeated IPs. I believe this is being caused by people viewing the downlaodable PDF in the browser, leaving it then coming back - though I could be wrong here (and I'm happy to be corrected. Does anyone have experience with similar?

There are many download manager plugins. Which are you speaking about? Have you written to the plugin author?
