Adding Solid Coloured Bar Across Site Header

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'd like to add a 10px. solid coloured bar across the top of my site's header. Just wondering about what would be the most efficient method. I am thinking CSS. If that is the case, how would I best implement the code (What is the code I would use?). I'll put it in my CSS arsenal. I suppose I could create the bar in Photoshop, and then add it with a hook. But that seems like overkill - IMHO. http://cl.ly/190v3T0B2z1r3k2x0M3V

Hi WebWerx, Try this:
#site {border-top: 10px solid red;} /* Change red to the color you desire */
Please search our forums, before posting!

Hey @Danny: That works perfectly. One small tweak. I'd like the border to only appear within the bounds of the site (1024 px.). I guess I should have said that initially......

Make sure you've downloaded Firebug for Firefox and check out W3 Schools. :) With the above ^^^ you'll be able to figure out which element to change. This should work for you:
#branding .content-pad { border-top: 10px solid red; }
Hi there, just replace the color with the hex value.

#site {border-top: 10px solid #ffffff;}

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.
