No Visible Thumbnails Using Pagelines Framework & iBlogPro5

Recommended Posts

kirkpatrick

Hello, This weekend I upgraded from iBlogPro 4 to PL Framework and iBlogPro 5. I'm very pleased with the new framework, but I am having problems getting thumbnails to appear anywhere on my site. I have over 800 posts that each have a unique 300x225 PNG image file which were all uploaded within WordPress using iBlogPro4. In the Pagelines>Settings>Blogs & Posts menu I now have every box checked under "Post Thumbnail Placement" and I have tried all four variations under the "Feature Post Exceprt Mode" and the "Clip Excerpt Mode" but the thumbnails never appear on the site including on the: 1.) Home page next to the Latest Posts: http://investba.com/ 2.) Main Blog Page: http://investba.com/blog/ 3.) Category Pages & Carousel Items: http://investba.com/category/creative-class/ I installed the NextGen Gallery plugin thinking that might solve the problem, but still no thumbnails. I also removed any inactive image plugins that I thought might be creating a conflict. I then searched the Forum but did not find any questions with the same topic, so maybe I am missing something very basic. At least, I hope so. Any thoughts or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Patrick Archer

Have you tried deactivating all active plugins to see if it's a plugin conflict?

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.

Thanks for your suggestion, Catrina. I deactivated all of my plugins. The thumbnails still would not appear despite refreshing and viewing the site in multiple browsers.

We know about this, new version will be out after the weekend, and it includes this bugfix.

As long as the are 'featured' images, they will appear like this: http://demo.pagelines.com/framework/hello-world-2/

Simon, Not sure if I follow what you mean by "featured" images. These are just the 700+ PNG images I've uploaded with every blog post since 2009. I don't know what would make them "featured" images unless this is something I should be doing with each image upload.

Using the featured image tool http://www.screencast.com/t/WrAvpcyd

I see the Screencast window, but I'm not sure what you're suggesting. Does this mean I need to go back into each individual post one-by-one and designate each image as a Featured Image. Is there not a simpler solution? You said there was a bugfix coming out. Is this still the case?

featured images, are what wordpress calls the post thumbnail, you add the post thumbnail to a post/page using the featured image dialog. The bug was the framework was not looking for the thumbnail properly and so not displaying them. There maybe some tool to covert images, maybe ask in the wordpress forum?

BTW, looks like your using excerpts on yor blog page, adding to the allowed tags may show your inline images.

I'm not familiar with "adding to the alllowed tags." Can you send a screencast of where that would be on a post?

Simon, Thanks for all the screencasts and the suggestion to look for a conversion tool plugin. I tried one that did not work and then a second one (Auto Post Thumbnail) that worked beautifully. It generated featured image thumbnails for all 776 first post images on the site in less than fifteen minutes. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/auto-post-thumbnail/ Thanks again, Patrick InvestBA.com
