images not scaling in IE, but scaling in Firefox

Recommended Posts

I've created an image on a homepage here (professional bio) and discovered that the image in Firefox is 517px ?— 386px (scaled to 256px ?— 191px), which is what I desire. However, in IE 9, the image is 517px ?— 386px (but not scaled down). This causes my word wrapping around the image to be misaligned. I could probably fix it my changing the content (moving some information to a side bar). But, the photo is way way way too big. How can I fix this so that, like Firefox does, IE respects the scaling (that I think was done in the Wordpress editor?) Can you help? Thanks in advance.

try adding this to your custom css: .entry_content img {max-width:200px; height-auto;} tell us if it helped...

I apologize if this is too basic (too noob). I'm not very familiar with adding code to my custom css. Does that mean go into the editor and add it to the bottom of style.css? Wait, strike that... I think you mean within Pagelines > Custom Code > CSS Rules Testing... No change when I add to CSS Rules Testing... No change when I add PageLines Framework: Stylesheet (style.css) Also, no change when I selected "Include Google IE Compatibility Script" within Pagelines > Advanced Also, doesn't this approach mean that all images at the site will have a maximum width of 200px? Else, what am I misunderstanding? What should I do? Thanks.

Really interesting (and weird). The source code in IE shows this:

I think it's a problem with whatever code you're using to create the background and phone link I found in Chrome but not in FF or IE. See your site in Chrome and you'll notice that both phone numbers appear totally different from the other browsers. It appears to be some kind of conflict, thus I'm going to suggest you take two steps: 1. Try it in the TwentyTen theme and see if the problem persists. 2. Deactivate plugins other than those which PageLines provides. See how it goes and please let us know.

At that moment, that was a correct indication in IE. I was working on the image yesterday and left it at those dimensions. I have now reverted the image back to as per above posting. I am using: WordPress 3.3.1 PageLines Framework 2.1.5 by PageLines Akismet plugin Simple Popup Plugin (nothing else) I am not using any special software to create a background and/or phone link. I activated the TwentyTen Theme and the image was scaled correctly to 256x191 in IE. I reverted the theme back to Pagelines Framework... resulting in the image losing its scaled aspect and reverting back to the original size of 517px ?— 386px... Now for good measure... I deactivated all other plugins (leaving none active), and the result was the same. Here is the test case scenario: While creating a page, in edit mode, upload/insert (add media)... Select a photo... Leave as original size... Insert into post... Within editing area, click on photo... click&drag lower right corner to resize photo to smaller size... PUBLISH... compare in IE vs Firefox vs Chrome... Expected result = photo is shown as resized in all browser view-page sessions... Actual result = IE photo is not resized; Chrome & Firefox photo is resized

But why would the images scale in the TwentyTen Theme and not the Pagelines Theme? Question... Should I adjust the image size outside of WP (local image editor) and re-import the image so that I don't need to use scaling within WP? OR, should we try to resolve the Pagelines image scaling issue in IE?

I think it'd be easier to just adjust the image size in an image program and re-upload it. If you already know what size you want the image to be, it's best to just save it in that size and use it.

Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to.

Okay, so that's what I did. I changed the source image so that it was the correct original size to begin with, and removed the scaling of the photo within the document. OPEN ISSUE - Changes to photo image sizes within Wordpress do not show correctly in Pagelines Platform Pro when viewed via IE.
