I'm having great difficulty invoking Firebug to identify CSS, so am asking these questions: I need to customise the main horizontal menu: lose the background box, line and just have a change of colour when the links are activated. In single column mode, I need to centre the main content I need to add a 1px border around the fixed width area. Please can you help? Thanks.

well, if you don`t share your link it will be difficult to give you code that actually works on your page. #menu-navigation {float:left;} background box?? what do you mean by that?? to make background disappear: #xxx {background:transparent} Also I dont know what line you mean... for borders, use {border: 1px solid black;} But provide a link for proper support... or screenshots... or both

just found your site on your other post: So here are some ideas:
.main-nav {float:left;} /* move it right */ .navigation_wrap, .main_nav_container, .main-nav {border-bottom:none;} /*U only need one of these, but u have to try which */ .main-nav a:link, .main-nav a:visited, .main-nav a:active { color: #FFFFFF; background: #000000; }
Please explain which page u mean with: In single column mode, I need to centre the main content maybe {text-align:center;} for text or {margin:0 auto;} for block elements. I need to add a 1px border around the fixed width area. probably #page {border: 1px solid black;} Hope this helps....

Thanks for your help! Here's the URL: http://77.72.201.176/~cdfrhden/wp/ I want to: a. centre the nab b. remove the search field c. remove the RSS symbol d. add a 1px black border round all the content (900px wide) no padding round the header) e. have a different header for each static page. I've tried this coding as suggested, but it doesn't work: .page_id=20 .mainlogo-img{ display:none } .page_id=20 .mainlogo-link{ display:block; height:289px; background: url(http://77.72.201.176/~cdfrhden/images/histoire.jpg) no-repeat;

a) .main-nav {margin:0 auto;} /*center*/ b) you can do that in the pagelines menu. Header and Footer c) the same as b) d) #page {border: 1px solid black;} d2) #header #branding .content-pad {padding 0px;} e) .page-id-2 .mainlogo-img{ display:none } .page-id-2 .mainlogo-link{ display:block; height:289px; background: url(http://77.72.201.176/~cdfrhden/images/histoire.jpg) no-repeat; } This should do the trick... wish u the best of luck
