Boxes and Images in IE8

Recommended Posts

Boxes with the image above them are being stretched out in IE8. This isn't happening in IE9. It is even happening on the Pagelines demo site (http://demo.pagelines.com/core/boxes/) when you use IE NetRenderer. Most of my visitors are using IE8...so I would like to see if this can be fixed. zp6pa.png Thanks!

Unfortunately, IE8 doesn't render boxes the same way IE9 will because of it doesn't use CSS3 and HTML5. There's no real fix, however, you might try using the Boxer plugin. I've no idea whether it works any better in IE8 than 9. Failing that, you might be able to use a table in place of boxes. While far less fluid and dynamic, it's older HTML and will definitely work in IE8.

Thanks for the insight. One additional question: The images in the boxes seem to work fine in IE7. Any ideas on why this is the case? Just wondering if it was an IE8 specific quirk that I could look for as I trouble shoot it.

Honestly, it's probably some complete oddity that it works in IE7. You'll see we don't even support IE7 or 8 http://www.pagelines.com/forum/discussion/17308/older-browsers-support#Item_3 I doubt there's something you can fix because it's not really a PageLines issue but a WP issue with the browser.
