Fully Functional Facebook Share Button

Recommended Posts

With Pagelines 2, I have noticed that the default Facebook button below a blog post has changed. It is now designed primarily to show likes. Is there a standard Facebook share button that has full functionality, including posting to one of your fan pages, designating a thumbnail, etc.

In order to accomplish what I think you are looking for you will need to write some code and possible pull from Facebook (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/guides/web/). You can also install already created plugins both from our store (http://www.pagelines.com/store/) or available at WordPress (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/)

I don't believe your are correct that a plugin or code is needed. This is a standard Facebook share button that is found at the bottom of most every Wordpress blog with any garden variety theme. The problem is in Pagelines 2, this button has disappeared and only the "like" button remains. Here is a Wordpress blog of one of my students. Note at the bottom of the entry there is a Facebook link for sharing, to the left of the one for liking. Also, the thumbnail is posted correctly as well. That's what I want! http://toriacook.wordpress.com/2012/03/05/a-walk-down-pabo-sagori/ Thanks.

Hi Randall, The website you linked displaying the share icons is using the Automattic plug-in Sharedaddy. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sharedaddy/ Also there is no Share button on Facebook plug-in website, I don't use Facebook personally so maybe you can show me where the share button is. http://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/

Please search our forums, before posting!

Thanks for the Sharedaddy tip. I've tried different share plugins in the past, but this one seems pretty good. I'm still having problems getting the featured image to show up as a thumbnail. Do you have any suggestions. For someone who doesn't use Facebook, I appreciate your help on these Facebook questions!
