Buddy Press in a /FORUM area HELP Please

Recommended Posts

I have a website www.g2builders.net and Buddy Press is installed. I need to figure out how I can leave the site AS IS and then add a FORUM section (i.e. www.g2builders.net/forum) Anyone know how to do this?

Hi, The problem with BuddyPress and the /forum folder is that name is used as a function of BuddyPress. I've gone through this myself and discovered I needed to install in some other folder name. The most popular ones are /community or /discussion. I'm not sure if you're aware that BuddyPress wasn't working with PlatformPro for some time. I'm not sure if they resolved this yet. We created a special integration for PageLines Framework to deal with BuddyPress. Your site is awesome, btw! One of these days you must tell me how you did some of those things!

Question, how do I exactly create and add the forums under the title of /community. I am using FTP right now and installed the plug-ins just not sure if I create a folder now or what to do?

Well, I personally did a completely new WP install in a /discussion folder I created via FTP in my public_html area. However, if you don't want to go that route, then when you've properly setup your BuddyPress install in the root WP install, there's an option in the Buddypress settings that lets you specify where the forums are located. Change that to /community and save. It should be that simple. This might help. http://www.pagelines.com/wiki/How_to_Use_the_BuddyPress_for_PageLines_Plugin
