borders around or rules below boxes

Recommended Posts

How can I create a rule below a set of boxes or add a border to a set of boxes using custom ccs or both? Is there a beginners guide to using css in pagelines somewhere - on or off-line - for simple things like adding rules, padding, aligning text etc., and describing how to make sure the code is correctly shown (with {}, ; etc) and put in the right place? Thanks in advance for any help. Ash

I recommend downloading Firebug to help you determine which CSS selectors you need to change. And W3 Schools is a great place to learn about CSS. Also, common CSS tweaks with PlatformPro. :)

Thanks, Simple Mamma, Got Firebug, looked at W3 schools and they help but it's getting the final piece of the puzzle that's sometimes difficult. For instance, I've worked out how to add padding below boxes shown on certain pages using the following code /*BOX SPACING*/ .page-id-467 .fbox {padding-bottom: 40px !important;} .page-id-462 .fbox {padding-bottom: 40px !important;} How do I add, say, a rule or a keyline around each box on these pages (or others) and where exactly does the code go in the sequence... inside the {} with the other stuff or in new ones, or what? As you can guess, I'm new to this. Ash

Ash, I'm going out on a limb here but I'd suggest downloading and implementing the Boxer plugin. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/boxer/ It lets you add a nice fuzzy line below the box or border it or even styles it for you, complete with background. I think you'll like it. Particularly as it is added using shortcodes, so you can place it anywhere.
