How to add my PageLines theme to my WordPress blog ?

Recommended Posts

I just bought a theme and read the notice explaining how to install the theme. I unzipped my theme but then, have no idea about how to do : - it is said : you can "use WP's internal theme upload tool". But where is this tool. There is nowhere such option. - Or it is said : "you can unzip and use FTP to move it into the ???themes??? folder, within the ???wp-content??? folder. But how do I use Ftp and where are all these folders ? I have nothing named like this in my computer. I would really appreciate your help. Thank you Myriam

The internal theme upload tool is located in the menu on the left under APPEARANCES > THEMES > ...then depending on the version of WordPress you're using it will be something like INSTALL > UPLOAD

Hello, Thank you for you answer, but there is nothing like this on the Appearances tab. I click on Appearances and then have the following choices : themes. widget. menu, extra, background, header, typekit, edit CSS If i click on Themes, I have only one option : to "manage themes". Then i can choose between "current theme" and "browse themes" (list of theme available that i can activate of my blog). I looked everywhere and nowhere I have the possibility to Install or Upload a theme I got from elsewhere. Regarding my version of wordpress : I am a PC user, and I created my blog one week ago. So I would say it is the last one. Thank you Myriam

As an additional point, I just upgraded my wordpress account and bought the CSS Upgrade but it does not change a thing.

I think i might find a reason but it does not help me at all to know what I will install my theme. It seems that we cannot add themes at wordpress.COM and are limited to the themes found in the dashboard under appearance > themes. On a forum a person wrote that "Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG" What do you think Cmunns ? If this person is right, than what should i do ?

Hi Myriam, I suspected the same thing before you answered it yourself... this is indeed a limitation of using wordpress.com. If you want to get the full use of your PageLines theme and have complete control over your website you will need to be setup with your very own hosting and domain name (http://www.myriambahi.com/ or whatever you want and is available). Here are some good hosting services that WordPress recommends: http://wordpress.org/hosting/ Then, I am available to help with your WordPress + PageLines installation if needed, fill free to contact me for more details: [email protected] Thanks, Bryan

- First, you should be running the latest WordPress (which is currently 3.0.1 at the time of this posting) - Then buy or download the latest Pro version of your theme from your LaunchPad account: http://www.pagelines.com/launchpad/member.php - Option A: Go to Appearance > Themes > Install Themes > Upload and then upload your still zipped theme and activate - Option B: Unzip your theme, upload via FTP to your /themes/ folder, then go to Appearance > Themes to activate it Thanks, Bryan
