Creating a CSS Selection Tutorial

Recommended Posts

minasm

Hi, I need to learn about selection with CSS so that lots of my questions will be solved. Lets say I want to change the color of the post background of all posts on a page, I think it is

and I should use section.post-loop { background-color: #000000;} or #copy-pad { background-color: #000000; } or .post-loop { background-color: #000000;} does not work. I am trying to get the idea of this selection thing, is there any guide for this that you can offer? I am learning and willing to prepare a css selection guide so that anyone needs can use it in the need.

Hi, I have provided you with a few good resources for Google Chrome Developer Tool: http://www.pagelines.com/wiki/How_to_use_CSS_Inspection_Tools http://code.google.com/chrome/devtools/docs/elements-styles.html Also would it be possible to provide a link to your site, so I can take a closer look please.

Hi Minasm, To make the post area background a different color or in the example below transparent, you the below code.
#postloop .copy-pad { background-color: transparent; }
Use this as an example. Basically, all I did was load up Google Chrome inspection tool (press F12) and then view the selector that was generating the white background. In this case it was this:
#column-main .copy-pad { background-color: white; }
Then all I did was go up the selectors, until I seen what the main selector was in this case it was #postloop and then I simply added this to the code like you can see above. Hope this helps.
