Simplifying The Web Address

Recommended Posts

I wish to simplify the web page addresses for my site. For example it needs to change from http://robbiedrewesart.com/?page_id=671'>http://robbiedrewesart.com/?page_id=671 to http://robbiedrewesart.com/.'>http://robbiedrewesart.com/. I went to Settings -> Permalinks -> Custom Structure. I typed in http://robbiedrewesart.com/ in the box and Saved Changes. It immediately went back to the Default Permalink setting and left the Custom Structure box blank. I tried to follow the examples of the other settings options. Is here a special syntax or structure for setting the permalinks? When I was having problems getting my carousel page to operate, the Forum advice was to set Permalinks to Default. It was not. Does having the Carousel in operation preclude me using a Custom Structure for Permalinks and simplifying the web address? Please help!

Thank you! The WordPress codex was not easy to follow, but it worked.
