Best eCommerce plugin for Pagelines Framework 2.x ???

Recommended Posts

theshaman

I've seen a few posts talking about an upcoming internal eCommerce solution from Pagelines, but I need a solution soon, so....: What experiences have fellow Framework users with the various ecommerce plugins out there? Or is there an "official" recommendation? What I need for my small online publishing platform is rather simple: no physical products, no complicated shipping calculations. Just a few variations per product, like onsite sale of PDF via Paypal and maybe a few other payment gateways, plus offsite affiliate link to Amazon for purchase of physical book and/or Kindle version... Basically I want to re-create the functionality of the Templatic "Publisher" theme (demo: http://templatic.com/demos/?theme=publisher), which I have to replace, since the code was WAY too messy and buggy for a production site... Any recommendations? thanks!!! Martin

Martin, it's amazing what the rumor mill will generate. At present we have no plans to build an eCommerce solution. Unfortunately, I can't recommend any particular eCommerce solutions and we've not tested any officially. Reading through the forums, some have had problems with yet others have made work almost all the major plugins. The one with the least comments is TheCartPress http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/thecartpress/ but that could be simply that not many of our clients use it. You have to find the solution that fits your model best and I'd suggest http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ staring there.

thanks rangelone, yeah, I am aware of the multitude of shop/cart/commerce plugins from woocommerce to whatnot... that's why I asked... ;-) TheCartPress I had in mind and have been using it before, but it is quite a bit of overkill (for the task that I currently want to achieve) and as with all complex solutions I would have loved to hear that it smoothly works with Framework... so maybe someone who already molded Framework 2.x into some sort of digital-product/affiliate store can share his experiences, otherwise I will indeed start trial&erroring myself, lol ;-)

Well, it's the myriad of whatnots out there that confuse us too. Unfortunately, because every merchant has a different product range, and methods of selling, tax rules, etc., it's nearly impossible for us to make a recommendation. I too would urge fellow PageLines Framework 2.x to share experiences about eCommerce as this is a tough area for many. Please feel free to talk amongst yourselves (as they say).

Just to follow up on this: since I do not have much time to experiment on that site I have decided to go with WooCommerce as shop plugin and a template that was already specifically designed for it (Abundance from Kriesi.at). Quite happy so far and most likely the site will be life with the new theme by next week. So no Pagelines/ecommerce integration from me for the time being ;-)
