Add opt-in form next to feature slider

Sorry, I posted this in General, but it belongs here. Does anyone have step by step instructions on how to reduce the feature slider size and butt right next to it an opt in form? Where would I edit this and exactly how would I do it? I do not want to use a side bar on the front page.
