Adding more sidebar widgets in Pagelines 2

Recommended Posts

There's a great post about adding additional sidebars in the forum but it was written for PlatformPro. I've been trying to adapt the instructions for Pagelines 2.0 developer but am having some difficulties figuring it out. If I wanted more than three sidebars, how would you add them into the platform? Just duplicating and modifying other sidebar .php files in the /sections/ folder doesn't work. Thanks.

Hi. Apologies for the delayed reply. I'm unsure what sort of layout you would like to have on your site, so a link would help. Normally, there are up to three columns on a website. One is the content area. The other two are sidebars. One may also have a third sidebar which may be placed above or below the other sidebars. The Universal and Full Width sidebars may also be added to provide added widgets, usually in full width places, however, the Universal may also be used as a narrow column or to top the two sidebars next to the content area. If, by chance, your goal is to get your content into columns, there are ways to achieve this which do not require sidebars. Please let us know if this is your goal. To my experience, having multiple columns of sidebars can create confusion and lots of work. They'll also use up lots of space with padding. So if we can help you to organize your goals, please let us know.
