rweiss 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2012 I've been reading around the forum and it seems that people get video embedded in Boxes (regular Boxes - not Feature boxes) without trouble and only struggle with the css code for sizing, etc. But I can't even get a video to display. Is there something I am missing? I have used regular embed codes (html side). I have used plugin shortcodes, and I have tried Wordpress' video insert. Nothing displays a video from YouTube. Jenny 33 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 Sorry about that. Viewing this thread and inspecting his site, he used an iframe to get it to appear in the box. ♥ Jenny :: Web designer at Simple Mama (follow me at @simplemamacom) Check out Share Me, a social sharing add-on for DMS that is super simple to set up. rweiss 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 The link to the thread just brings me back here. But I did try the iframe approach to embedding - and it still wasn't working.
Rob 547 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 I have tried to include a video in boxes with both the embed iframe code and the straight code. Neither worked. I am not sure this is easily done. However, there are plugins such as http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/smart-youtube/installation/ which might help because it allows you to use a shortcode. Make sure when editing the box to include the shortcode that you do so in HTML mode, not in Visual. I see you've been doing that. Hopefully this plugin will work. Rob 547 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 Oh, if it doesn't, try a plugin called Boxer to implement a different version of the box or, try building a table. Former PageLines Moderator, Food Expert and Raconteur
rweiss 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 The plugin didn't work - so it looks like I would need to not use the Boxes if we are going to insist on a video. I bought the embed video section from the PageLines store, but realized it is for the framework version only - so that won't help either.
cheldear 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 Hi guys. I'm not trying to do this with boxes, but I have been trying for 2 days to get media files to embed period. I have tried every possible way to do it in every way that has been mentioned all over the forums. Everyone else seems to have no problem getting it to work. They either do it by just putting in the youtube link in the visual editor area without the link, and that works fine (not for me), or they use the iframe in the media link area, which does nothing for me but give me a link, or if I put anything in the html area, I get a link. I need to embed all types of multimedia because I am going to be running a small conference. The only types of plugins I can find these days that support WP 3.3.1 require that I create media sets on their site; I can't just use urls and such. And of course, the horrific documentation here has nothing regarding how to embed videos. In fact, I thought that maybe it just plain didn't work. So the only documentation I could find was the installation of a different plugin for the wiki--which led me to believe that I had to go through this horrific process to use a plugin off the MIT open license with special params and code just to embed different media types. Does anyone have any ideas? I have tried every syntax that is out there, every way possible. I have changed the size settings for media types, I have turned off the setting to "try to embed media", turned it on, I have tried to create pages of all the different types of templates, I have tried as many different types of related settings as I can, and I tweaked every single type of paramter that I can through HTML, adding media, and of course, through the visual interface since you aren't supposed to have to do anything anymore except just put the reference in there without the actual hyperlink. Help! Please! Again, this is general; no boxes. Is anyone else stuck like this?
