Page content not showing after changing from regular page to blog (post) page

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I created a page that included an image, an introduction, and a contact form, and it looked great. Then I made that page my post page, and the intro "page" content disappeared. The blog posts are showing up fine but not anything from the "page" content area. I've looked all over and can't figure it out. This is in platform 1. I have another blog in platform 2 with the same situation that is working beautifully so I know I'm just overlooking something silly in this version. I'm not able to convert this to P2 at this time so I need a workaround for this version please. Can anyone help? Thanks so much. The page is http://www.mnmdemo7.com/pet-loss-therapy/pet-memorial/

When you say you made it your post page do you mean you went into "settings-reading" in the wordpress dashboard and changed the page settings over? If so go back and change them to what they were before to see if it reverts back. Otherwise go into templates, click on the post page template and check that the content section is active. If not drag the content tag into the active area it should hopefully appear on the page.

yes, when i used setting>reading to change the post page from -select- (I didn't have a post page previously) to "pet memorial" is when the problem occurred. when I changed it back, my content reappeared. I have left it there for the moment so you can see it. Thanks for your time, please let me know if you have any other ideas. FYI, the content section is enabled on all page types. :)

Ok excellent. Leave that exactly as it is and then create a new page called "posts or blog" etc. Then go into the settings like you did before and select that new page as the posts page in the settings-reading section of the dashboard. The posts page has it's own template in the "special pages" section of the pagelines settings tab. So when you changed it the first time those settings were overriding that page. If you want to include additional information on that page you'll need to activate the additional sections required using the post page template settings in the special pages tab. But to be honest I'd advise you create a separate page for the posts/blog. Hope that helps....

ok i kind of get what you're saying, but need some clarification. I don't have a "special" tab because this site is in Platform 1, not Platform 2. Are you saying that in Platform 1 I can't have any text or anything at the top of my post page? That seems very odd to me. I feel like i've seen tons of blogs with intros and images above the posts. I must be missing something. sorry if i'm being dense.

Awww I see. There must be a way then, unfortunately I've only used platform 2 so not sure how that would work in version 1. Best reject my answer and wait for a moderator to come along and assist in more depth. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Try the Special Recent Posts plugin. It allows you to use a shortcode to output your posts at the bottom of a Page. The other way would be to add your content as a hook. Third way would be using a Sidebar like the full-width Sidebar on the Posts Page template., and then hide on the other pages with CSS or with the Widget Logic plugin.
