Shortcode in boxes still not working

I really want to use shortcode to drive a recent post into a box on the homepage here: http://sme.uvm.edu/cmb/blog/ (still in development, obviously). However, nothing is working. I've turned off every plugin, but that didn't solve it. I've followed all the ideas in this post, to no avail: http://www.pagelines.com/forum/discussion/9098/any-way-to-pull-blog-posts-dynamically-into-039boxes039/p1 Does anyone have any ideas?

Try updating 1st, your theme version is 12 months out of date
